As Lily leaves after school kendo practice, she notices that something is very wrong. The entire city rumbles, and she sees smoke in the distance. She runs through the town to find a giant demon in the center of town, destroying everything.

Lily runs home to find it destroyed. Her dying father tells her to hide in the woods, to return when she’s strong enough to fight. He knew this day would come. Another loud bang behind her, and Lily runs to a nearby forest, to hide.
As she crosses a clearing, a strange, winged demon crosses her path and begins walking towards her.
She grabs a branch off the ground and tries to fight it, but it takes no damage.

Lily falls back to the ground. Stick is now broken beside her. She hears a soothing male voice in her ear to take the “sword.”

Lily turns to find a small demon, arms stretched out in offering, holding an ancient weapon. She takes it without hesitation and rushes the beast still coming for her.

Lily fights the beast again, only this time, the sword cuts straight through it, cutting it into pieces. The sword cuts through the beast with almost no resistance, a clean line through. As the beast slides in half, we see the red for the first time of the beast’s blood on the black and white forest floor. The pieces remain intact perfect parts, like slicing through jello.

Lily watches in horror as the small cute demon eats the pieces. After gulping them down, the cute creature grows in size, becoming a small ape-like demon creature.
The demon, Nero, explains by taking the sword, they are now bound together. Now, as one entity, they can take down the great being that destroyed her city, they just need to get a little stronger first. Nero directs Lily to the nearby train station,
