The same deep-dive into my past drawings that yielded The Amazon - Maxwell Madd and His Wrestling Women! also turned up a piece I'd forgotten I'd drawn: this early concept for a "generic" splash page (or possibly cover) for a possible Tetsuko comic.

Once again, there's no date on this drawing, but it most likely dates back to around 1990 or '91, when I was still casting about for a definitive design for my new muscle-girl character. The bangs hanging down over her forehead (and the very '80s-ish headband, which was still a design element at the time) would seem to be presaging the rooster-tail forelock which has now become her trademark.

This is the second drawing I've done which shows Tetsuko holding up metal replicas of the kanji with which her name is written, 鉄子

(Apologies for the very faint scan, but the drawing itself was very faint, and I haven't yet mastered the art of scanning to where I can darken the lines on a piece like this while leaving the background white - in fact, the paper had yellowed somewhat with age, making a clean scan more difficult.)

I may do an updated version of this piece using Tetsuko's current design. Might make a good promo piece, or poster.
