Second Illustration of five works representing five important moments in Julius Caesar's period of power.The First Triumvirate ended with the death of Crassus in 53 BC, following which Pompey realigned himself with the Roman senate and opposed Caesar. This led to the Great Roman Civil War (49–45 BC) in which Caesar ultimately defeated Pompey and his supporters in the Senate to become the undisputed leader of Rome.
