Description This will be in scraps soon, but with this being the 4th of July, I find it fitting:

From the movie 1776:

Hopkins: That's quite a large signature, Johnny.
Hancock: So fat George can read it in London without his reading glasses!

When I saw this petition for the fan deviants here on DA to be permitted to be, well, fans, I had a similar thought. I want anyone who thinks that making derivative works of anything is copyright infringement to be able to see my name from the ass their heads are in.

My position on fan works is this. If you make something out that people like, they're going to make their own spin on it. They will make fan fiction, fan artwork, original characters, hell, Blood and Metal was originally a Sonic Fandom. When studios try to sue people for being fans, and even getting the government involves, it just gives me the thought that, they really don't want to have people going to the theaters, playing their games, and in fact being their paying customers. If you don't want people being fans, don't put it out.

And that's what I want to happen with my own works, like BAM, Scarlet PI, and any other works I make. As long as it's not going into ED-like Troll activity, I'm well and fine with it. I'll even go so far as to have it part of any negotiations with any company; they are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN from sueing or criminalizing any fanfict writer or fanart artist.

Like I said before, I started off with fanfiction--rather awful fanfiction if you ask certain people--and then branched off to orginal works. It is my hopes that someone who makes fanworks of my stuff will do the same, I'll be very proud of a person who does that. The last thing I want to do is to stop that creativity with a lawsuit in their faces.
