I was stopping into the Inner Harbor to visit USCGC Taney (WEHC-37) when suddenly "America's Tall Ship" pulls in and things got real."America's Tall Ship" USCGC Eagle (WIX-327) is the current Coast Guard Academy training vessel. She was built as a training ship for the German navy in Hamburg in 1936 by Blohm + Voss as the Horst Wessel. Horst Wessel was taken as war reparations after World War II and has served in it's current role since.
