It was afternoon about 2pm!! Those fog banks come and cling to the islands sometimes..

Yea.. its very cool.. makes you realize why they built the lighthouses.. many of these fog banks settle on the islands where those are

It makes me wonder if the ships would follow the coast line looking for alternative places to land, and finding nothing but fog, would return to Portsmouth or Portland and request light houses built so they could see where the islands were in the fog. Or did an accident occur and a ship ran aground on one of those islands? After that people started building lighthouses to mark the islands.

They built the lights because of accidents that occurred over the years..and to mark harbors
