That's a Super awesome looking tortoise! I'm really amazed by that rugged skin, and the ancient and proud look on his face would give even dragons a run for their money! Despite being "just" a tortoise, it lives up very well to its name as a Divine Creature.
All your women are beautiful, and this one is no exception, I like how her pale skin contrasts with the tortoise and her clothes and hair. I Love that headpiece of hers. How did you learn how to design such pretty clothes? I like how you also added a snake in there, its twisting body really adds to the dynamic feel of the picture!

Every time I see an awesome artist, I ask "How did you learn to do that?" (I already learned that "Is there an easy trick to do that?" never works. xD ) Even so, every time the response is "No real way, I learned by looking around and drawing a lot.

Well, there was really no schools that taught comic illustrations in china, as the concept of comics to the chinese as a profession at the time was really foreign, as most people just read japanese manga. I was actually the first Professor of comics art every instated in the country. But was always able to draw and the more I drew the better I got, it just came with practice I guess... thats the best I can come up with

I don't think it's just a matter of "at the time"... Chinese comics and animations are often so ugly. T__T You know the most popular Chinese cartoon here right now? Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf? Wtf is that? I don't remember Tom and Jerry eliciting such a D: reaction in me art-wise. Then there's that "Tiny head dad and big head son" cartoon (not sure of the exact title). There are some nicely illustrated Chinese cartoons, but most are just so... bleargh. As for comics, they're often bad Japanese copies.
The Koreans did a fantastic job of taking manga and developing styles of their own. In China, the best illustrators are often from Hong Kong or Taiwan, certainly not from mainland China. I'm not sure what the mainland Chinese art institutes are teaching, but it seems that like with most of China, they're often stuck on copying other people's works more than creativity...

well, here are more and more good comic artist there but the reason most artist dont like to publish in China, myself included is due to the fact that after 1 run your stuff will flood the market in the shape of counterfeit books and art.
