Typical of a thunder god, Raiden is a loud presence in any room. His passion for learning drives him to put his all into everything he does. This often leads him to become overzealous about topics of interest. Get him going and he’ll go off on tangents about anything from the history or Mochi to the entire script of the Bee Movie.
Though his passion lets him be open minded to new ideas and earnest in his pursuit to experience life, he often finds himself falling for obvious lies when he simply doesn’t know better; especially in this modern world so detached from any time of history he’s lived in before. Raiden prides himself on how much he knows about human life and also of his own skills.
Often boasting (even if he’s empirically wrong), he’ll fight anyone who dares challenge his way of thinking and will often have rage filled outbursts when proven wrong (often). Despite this, Raiden will take the loss and grow from it.
ORIGIN STORY
It’s said that long ago that Raijin, God of Thunder, after hearing the people of the world talk about the indifference the gods felt for them, sent his son down to Earth to learn of humans and their ways. When Raitaro returned to the cloud castle, he told his father of all the wonders of the working people of Japan. The thunder god felt satisfied with this, how could anyone say he didn’t care about the people when he clearly knew so much about them? In fact, even after Raijin learned all there was to know about humans, he was so enamoured by them he continued to watch from high in the clouds. Come the turn of the century he observed the people and their towns develop far faster than he ever saw before. In the height of the Meiji restoration Raijin’s curiosity couldn’t be contained any longer. He wanted to experience this new world just as his son had experienced the one before. And so, in a flash of lightning and a clang of thunder, Raijin was reborn on Earth.
