To quote The Rock, "It doesn't matter what you prefer", ZAGR & DATR, by process of elimination, are THE canon ships if romance were to be added to the series. Series creator Jhonen Vasquez BARFS at ZADR (he even threatens to have security called if it's brought to his attention, just to revel in the disdain from fans who ship it, because he hates that ship so bad & wants people to stop trying to force something that doesn't exist) & has stated unequivocally that ZATR will NEVER happen, because Tak forever HATES Zim for ruining her life & is now considered a traitor among her own kind (hence why she would return as a de-facto villain in the _Spookies_ unaired episode & would eventually align with Dib [using what latent feeling she knows the big-headed boy feels towards her - despite her being of the same "Zim...thingy race" that Zim's part - of to her advantage, in order to painfully extract revenge out of Zim], the Resisty & the never-yet-seen-but-briefly-mentioned Meekrob to kidnap Tenn to kickoff the first play of the final battle between Earth & its temporary allies versus the Irken Empire, surprisingly championed by the makeshift team of Zim, Skoodge [after escaping Planet Blorch, home of the Slaughtering Rat People, the stumpy Irken would crash land on Earth, becoming Zim's new basement base roomie & since it is he whom Zim would use as a literal projectile to rescue Tenn, the grateful female Irken would see Skoodge as her "hero", leading to that ship sailing], Larb [Zim's fellow former Hobo 13 teammate & Footcourtia coworker, who actually somewhat respects the deluded Irken for reasons unknown], Zita [possibly the same girl with the same name in Skool is a better-disguised female Irken & since she's the one to first mock Dib after Zim denies the big-headed boy's alien accusations, she's sort of like a sister of sorts to Zim, sticking up for him, so she aids him in protecting their people from near-extinction], Tenn [the aforementioned female Irken used as bait to lure Zim's ragtag team into risking their lives to save all Irken life from potential mass genocide] & a strangely familiar hooded figure with amber-colored eyes who remained otherwise concealed in the shadows upon defecting to join Zim for her own personal reasons that are left unclear until she reveals herself & ultimately becomes Zim's Queen consort once the inevitable ex-Tallest Red & Purple are forced to abdicate their positions of leadership, either by dying or by The Control Brains' recall of their sheer incompetence utterly stripping them of their power to hand it over to a gleeful Zim & his new Empress [because, to paraphrase the old adage, "behind every great man - whether Earthling or Irken - there's an even greater woman" & what's more, this person is the one character whom everyone in the series, except those on equal playing fields like Miss Bitters, should rightfully fear & was confirmed by creator Jhonen Vasquez himself to be the smartest character on the entire show in spite of her canonically young 9 years of age, leading her to be the one with the true power, whilst Zim would just be her figurehead husband as a mere formality, age gaps & interspecies objectionability be damned]). "Invader Dib", the series finale, would've seen DATR happen initially through Tak using Dib's feelings towards her against him to manipulate him into seeing things her way when it comes to doing battle with Zim & then, perhaps developing further between the 2 upon being thwarted & getting hot-shotted to the remote corners of planet Saturn so they can flirt...I mean, come up with another strategy to get revenge on their shared nemesis, especially after the defection to Zim's side of someone whom Dib called family, namely his dangerous kid sister Gaz, who was the hooded figure shrouded in mystery previously mentioned who would end being the end-all-be-all ruler of the cosmos alongside the newly-respected Irken war hero Zim, who actually decides to spare Earth, no matter how stupid its populace & starts to rebuild Irk anew from the ground up, as their marriage & ascent to the throne of power would be vastly different from any of their predecessors, given Zim's height & Gaz not being Irken, upon obtaining leadership status following the forced abdications of former Tallest, Red & Purple.
