This was for a Remake/Remodel discussion where the subject was a little known pulp character called "The Octopus."

My take on the character is that a geneticist, Dr. Norvel Jacobs, in a hospital research laboratory turns to self-experimentation when the funding on his project is cut due to a lack of results. The scientist is mutated into a octopodal creature who escapes into the sewers beneath the hospital. The Octopus plots domination over the world above with the aid of his "ultra-violet ray" gun capable of transforming ordinary people into monstrous members of his "Cult of the Purple Eyes."

The last line of defense for the human race is Dr. Skull-Killer, secretly Jeffery Fairchild the hospital administrator responsible for pulling funding from Dr. Jacobs.
