interesting with the soft foreground and sharper centre image Is like a play on eye focus when looking at the image and makes you want to follow the girl more

Another tremendously suggestive and evocative picture. The cat has snarled causing the girl to turn her head and look in its' direction. Is the cat trying to warn her? The castle or mansion she is attempting to enter is not one I would want to visit, particularly in the dead of night. If the place was her home, the gates would have been opened for her. I think someone powerful and evil lives there and has something precious that belongs to the girl, an item or a person, and knows she will come to plead for its' return. It looks to be an unhappy night for the poor damsel.

Strangely it doesn't suggest fear to me. To me she has come with a definite purpose, an expectation of something that will be worth the journey.

I agree whole-heartedly! I feel excitement and great expectation from this picture! Not a dark, scary monster that's going to eat her. No, this will be a great adventure for her!
