So this is the purple egg texture I ended up making and applying. You may also notice that it is a bit smoother. I applied one subdivision surface just to smooth out the egg a bit. I can apply up to 6 at once but I'm going to do that if I need to later.

I still have problems UV texturing sphere layouts. The top doesn't clear right. . .
