A concept sketch of a Blackstar Variable fighter in its humanoid form.

The elite of the Blackstar forces, piloted by the cream of their genetically-modified forces hard-wired to cybernetic interfaces, this craft would be the pinnacle of the Blackstar forces. Fast and agile in both forms, capable of both atmospheric and space operation, the craft is easily a match for any conventional fighter or mech. Its weaponry included a hand-held rapid-fire railgun, two twin-barreled rapid-fire beam cannons, two internal missile bays and additional under-wing ordinance.

While it's tempting to say that this design was influenced by the VF-27 from Macross Frontier, the truth is that this sketch pre-dates it by a few years. With that being said, there's no hiding the Macross influence on the design.

Interestingly, the original sketch is c2004-2005, post-dating most of the other Blackstar work, and after I'd begun to move onto other things.
