Looking back at this one, I'm not entirely sure how the transformation is supposed to work. I assume that, in Macross style, the main engines become the legs. However, beyond that is just a guess; it appears that the upper side of the fighter mode becomes the chest, with the nose apparently retracting or folding up onto it.

Yes, I am aware how wonky this one looks. I'm terrible with wings.
