I hope my comment gets through this spamfest, cause this painting is truely brilliant! I'm really imagining a backstory to this image.
The characters in the front could be easily replaced by your favourite videogame hero or maybe even yourself which makes them great figures of identification. Especially because they are such an unequal pairing. They might resemble best friends playing videogames? On the other hand the monster in front of them is huge and demonlike which makes it a fierce opponent as well as an idol setting goals to aim for.
On top of all that the art style is lovely and perfectly executed. Superb!
