Description Variations:
These animals are pets in the world of Diaga they are a cross between fox, rodents, dog like creatures. They are highly sought for as they provide protection against demons often sensing them for those without the ability to smell for long distances. They can also perform slight jobs and if you have managed to earn the loyalty of one it will warn you before they strike. These small furred animals are highly social often living in groups of 10-13 digging slight burrows or stealing them from female rabbits and other prey that they have hunted.

Vikaras are named for the vital spirit and loyalty they are a highly decorated animal, their has been instances where a Vikara has saved their owners.  Vikara's tend to live about 12-16 years in captivity and 7-9 in the wild. They tend to suffer from arthritis but most tend to be healthy if fed properly.

Vikaras are reality calm animals and trusting to their companions those that have a long bloodline have been domesticated compared to their feral ancestors which still exists in the wild.

Habits

Vikara's need at least one nest, thought they tend to dig on occasion but this can be breed out through breeding programs or training as wild Vikara tend to dig and only come in browns, tans and grays.  Vikara depends on the breed, and species, some are breed for the winter, while others prefer more tropical areas, and some warmer climates.

Vikara need attention it is physically cruel not to have at least one partner for a Vikara they live in closely in family groups, or Clans even males tend to band together in Gangs. Vikara strength social bonds by grooming one another they will also groom their owners if they've approved a good bond with one another.

They need access to fresh water but the amount depends on the breed. They need enough room to run at least.

Diet

Vikara main diet is meat, they tend to eat animals such as rabbits, shrews, mice, snakes, hawks, their opportunistic and tend to gather in numbers to attack prey twice their size.

They tend to eat berries, shell fish, bread, grapes, and all sorts of fruits and vegetables but a vikara cannot survive on fruit and bread and must have meat. They will also eat eggs, anything high in fat or protein. They will eat anything they can get their mouth on testing and trying anything at  least once.

Offspring
Vikara mature at 6 months old and can reproduce at such a young age however it is not good for the animals health at one year of age they can breed safely thought most reputation breeders wait until they are 3 years of age before breeding their Vikara. Once a Vikara has breed it is a good idea to separate them from a male who is not the Father since they will go out of their way to kill them.

However females tend to push out males in the wild since females band together to keep care of the young and provide food while males like to get rid of the competition in order to assume that their offspring gets the main position, and food. Female Vikara will protect their nests, if their is a low amount of resources sometimes in extremely rare conditions other female Vikara will kill and consume the dead offspring of their rival but thats only if they can defeat the mother and this is in extremely rare conditions it is highly unlikely since usually a clan consists of sisters.

Vikara start off blind and deaf and start opening their eyes at 2 weeks of age from then on they grow in size no one is allowed inside of the den however other family members will bring food. If a male that is not the Father approaches he's asking for a fight. Female Vikara may gang up on said male, and either kill him or chase him out of the clan.

Once a Vikara has reached 3 months old she starts to introduce them to the outside world and their Father at this time the Father remains close and makes sure no males come near and gives the Mother the chance to hunt. She will also bring back live prey to teach her offspring how to kill and hunt it is usually during this time that most deaths occur either by other males or other predators.

Other females will defend females offspring so long as theirs enough food to go around for their own babies. However a female outside of the clan may come and attack the offspring. This might also fool a male on guard since he may assume she's one of the female from his group it may take him a minuet to figure it out and that is when she will attack.

This is why most breeders separate males and breeding females from other pairs to assume breeding selection however the humans must provide the food themselfs or allow the male to bring it to his mate which is most common. While the male has a nest he may breed with another female but it tends to be over whelming for the male so good breeders will keep it to one clutch per season. A male tends to his offspring for the first six months if he dies other clan females may feed her or she may kill her own kits and eat them in the wild.
