Apoligies for the er... silly question but, what is this doing to the lineart?

I've been reading your tutorials, and am finding them very helpful!
But I have a suggestion:
Why don't you just put a white background layer behind the sketch and set the sketch layer to "Multiply"?
That way there aren't any "accidentally feathering the lasso-tool" mishaps.

Deamond-89 In reply to Mossrael [2010-06-15 18:57:56 +0000 UTC]

Because that way you wont be able to color over the lineart, which is a very important factor for all my works

Mossrael In reply to Deamond-89 [2010-06-16 03:37:44 +0000 UTC]

But then you could just convert the layer to a mask and... Oh bother, whatever works for you. XD. You seem to be producing awesome art with what you are doing at the moment. There's like five ways to do EVERYTHING in Photoshop.

Deamond-89 In reply to kiwikaiwii [2009-04-17 11:34:05 +0000 UTC]

No, sorry You need to ink it manually first so it works. Or you use free linearts from DA, if you are too lazy for inling xD *is veeeery lazy sometimes* lol

I have a question @.@ . After i color over it and delete the background, how do i get the lines to stop moving and get the lines to go black?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deamond-89 In reply to justawhile12 [2009-02-15 09:09:57 +0000 UTC]

You have to draw over it AFTER deleting the background ^^ And then go to Select>Deselect

Oh...how did you make the result picture rainbow? I've always wanted to learn that...

Thanks for all the awesome and helpful and easy to follow tutorials and step-by-step processes!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deamond-89 In reply to ashleyjordan [2008-08-23 18:33:18 +0000 UTC]

After lifting, lock the layer (there is a small symbol on your layer-box... if you can't find it, just don't clear the selection!)

Now use the "Gradiation"-Tool. Thats the optional tool on the bucket-button.

Go to the colorsettings. The rainbow-color-set should be there among the colorsets ^^ Choose it and make a gradiation. Tada~

acrosstheu [2008-07-07 03:34:45 +0000 UTC]

Question: I don't have a tablet or anything, so I can't actually do lineart in photoshop. So, how would that work with scanned-in lineart, or would it at all? I'm confused.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deamond-89 In reply to acrosstheu [2008-07-07 06:00:45 +0000 UTC]

I made this tutorial back when I was working with traditional linearts only ^^ So it should work out fine for your scanned linearts

mentisworks [2008-06-27 19:44:30 +0000 UTC]

Okay, so I'm assuming you're magic-wanding all the white spaces, but what are you talking about when you say "brushing over the selected area?" Just a little unclear for me on that part ^_^.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deamond-89 In reply to mentisworks [2008-06-27 19:55:10 +0000 UTC]

No you use magic wand on the black parts and now use the brushtool on a new layer over the black parts you just selected. That way you trace the outlines from your drawing on an extra layer and the white is gone.

^^ Don't worry, my english is not the best one... so maybe I explained it a little confusing.

mentisworks In reply to Deamond-89 [2008-06-27 20:22:46 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay, now I get it ^_^. I used to do it in reverse. I would magic-wand all the white on a copied layer and delete the white space. I'll try your method too though, and see if it comes out cleaner ^_^. Thanks for the tip!

chibi-jak [2008-06-22 01:36:39 +0000 UTC]

how did you do them rainbow things? O.o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deamond-89 In reply to chibi-jak [2008-06-22 12:49:21 +0000 UTC]

I used a gradient-bucket on it ^^

First, lock your layer, so you can't draw in the "invisible" parts anymore and the use whatever you like as colors.

Drawtaru [2008-05-11 20:51:59 +0000 UTC]

wow I have never really looked at your tutorials before, but I wish I had looked at them ages ago! This is soooooo much easier than the methods I've used in the past! And the great part is that it works in Corel Painter IX, which is sadly what I use.

xD if you need an other program, try painter.NET. It is for free and has nearly the same functions as PS

Glad it helped you x3

This was really usefull to me!A tried to use it before but I couldn't do it actually(something with the levels was wrong)..today I decided to try again and even without looking at the tutorial I made it!I wonder why it didn't work before...Anyway it's important it works now and I am really happy with it.Before that my linearts were so bad and I had to work with the rubber to make them more clear.
Thank you Dea!You're great!
