Map of Velandi:
Other Area Maps:
- 1. Rinanwa:
Even in summer, these islands are always covered in thick snow and ice. The ice castle of the Sarangerel-Ochir family was built there and the town of Rinanwa was built around it over time. The city of Rinanwa is well-known for its beautiful ice-based architecture and sculptures.
- 2. Miyushu island:
It was originally a colony of Rinanwa but soon declared its own independency from Rinanwa. It does not have a central government but each local tribe sends representatives to the town of Noburu to hold counsel each year. While there are some human settlements, the majority of the population are races with a strong affinity to ice.
- 3. The town Eunjun:
The sea around Eunjun is pierced by rocks reaching above the surface. These rocks were used to position the buildings above the water. The bridges connecting the sea towns and the islands were built before the invention of air ships as secure trade routes. Many small water settlements can be found along the bridges.
- 4. The town Hyejun:
The town was built by aquatic and land-dwelling races together. The sea beneath Hyejun is very shallow so the stone buildings of the aquatic creatures beneath the surface act as basements for the surface buildings. As the space for buildings above the water is limited, the wooden buildings reach like towers into the air. Ever since the bridges between the sea towns and the islands were built, they became far easier to reach and thus a lot of different people inhabit the sea towns. The largest university of the water realm can be found in Hyejun.
- 5. Krisnar Archipelago:
The small islands of the Krisnar Archipelago are connected by large bridges.
- 6. City state Rong Da:
The island of Rong Da was originally a small settlement of little importance. Ever since the bridges were built, however, the settlement started to flourish and develop. By now the city covers almost the entire island.
- 7. Zhou Wen:
These islands reach barely above the sea level so many areas are often flooded during the rainy seasons. The eastern shores, however, contain beautiful, long beaches.
- 8. Hwan Eun:
The view of the Jeong mountain range located in the center of Hwan Eun is known for its wonderful view on clear days. Many streams and rivers run from the mountain to the sea. Due to Hwan Eun’s very uneven terrain, there are many waterfalls throughout the landscape. The soil is very fertile to where many farming villages were built here.
- 9. Kirichirou:
This small country is governed by its aristocracy. Due to its richness in minerals it gained a lot of wealth.
- 10. Hua Ju Republic:
This former kingdom has many large cities yet due to various quarrels concerning the succession of the throne, none of them remained the capital and seat of power for long. Having lost the support of the people, the aristocracy gave up on their claim to the throne in order to stop a revolution from starting. The imperial family took the chance to strengthen their influence and the imperial ambassadors now have a lot of influence on the young democratic country’s internal affairs. There are many towns built around Lake Lim which is located close to the north-western border of Hua Ju.
- 11. Moriko Forest:
The majority of the area is covered in dense rainforest, making travel by land nearly impossible. Thus, the main way of transportation is by ship through one of the many intertwining arms of Moriko River. For a long time, Moriko Forest was an independent area but as the influence of the Water Deity grew and as there was no form of central government, it came under the control of the city state Yuukyo.
- 12. City state Yuukyo:
The floating city was built close to the shores of Moriko but as the city expanded, it reached the shore over time so there are parts of the city on land as well now. As the city is built on water, the houses are made out of wood. In addition, the large petals of a giant breed of water lilies are used to connect the houses to keep them from floating astray. Over time, aquatic races began settling down beneath the city, building caves and houses out of stone. As the sea is rather shallow so close to the shores, the caves of the water-dwellers are visible from above the water.
- 13. Chun Bao:
This land became prosperous through trade when the original deity was slain as they could easily travel by ship through the inland sea of Fu Hai without having to fear facing the water creatures roaming the ocean. In the north the climate is warm all year and even in the south the winters are mostly mild.
- 14. Bahadur Highlands:
Bahadur is the only country of the water realm which contains a rather dry climate. The islands are far above the sea level and steep cliffs make them almost impossible to reach by ship. Only since the invention of airships, Bahadur became reachable for everyone.
- 15. Upasna:
Due to their location close to the equator, these islands have a tropical climate all year round.
- 16. Kanta Island:
Kanta is well-known for its beautiful coral reefs which can be found close to its shores.
- 17. Chandra:
Most towns are built along the shores of the sea while there are hardly any settlements around lake Garnesha. The spirits of the lake were awake for a few years even when the rest of the island had already calmed so when humans did not dare to settle down close to the lake, aquatic beasts took residence in the lake, making walking close to the shores dangerous even now.
- 18. + 19. Nimarla Mawar:
Nimarla and Mawar are separated by the Agung River. About 600 years ago the countries forged an alliance which made them grow together until the two kingdoms were united through political marriage about 200 years ago. The capital and the location of the current queen’s residence is Dipali.
- 20. Republic of Amrita:
Due to its desolate location, the country of Amrita developed rather independently from the rest of the water realm. As a result they developed a lot of original customs and festivals.
- 21. Aishwarya Archipelago:
Many rivers run through the small islands of Aishwarya Archipelago. Many of the rivers run underground resulting in a unique underground tunnel and cave system.
- 22. Kingdom of Lavanya:
The country of Lavanya is difficult to reach by ship as there are many rocks piercing the sea surrounding the mountains. There are also only few beaches or flat lands which can easily be accessed from the sea as the main masses of land reach up steeply. Lavanya’s capital, Sima, is known for its unique architecture as the buildings are incorporated into the mountain range.
- 23. Marshes of Ajith Aditya:
Ajith Aditya was originally a prosperous city of trade but it began to sink into the ocean after the original deity died. As it was built in a valley, it is now completely sunk and only aquatic creatures reside there now. Most of the original highlands are now covered with water, resulting in a marsh-like landscape. Only a few mountains still reach above the water all year.
- 24. Wibawa:
The city of the ocean-dwellers, with the structures built out of stone and corals. Wibawa is one of the oldest cities as it was built before the fall of the Ether Deity. The buildings are enormous in size and the city is wide-spread so that even the large water creatures can pass through the streets and caves.
- 25. Sari Raja Anarchy:
Before the ether deity was slain, Sari Raja was covered with woods and forests as the soil was fertile and healthy. As the islands began to sink, the forests were flooded as well. Only few treetops still reach above the surface. There are hardly any inhabitants left on the few high grounds still reaching above the water as shady creatures lurk beneath the surface between the sunken trees. As there is neither a population worth governing nor any raw material to be gained easily, the empire never showed much interest in strengthening their influence on the sunken islands. The few settlements which can be found in Sari Raja are each responsible for their own laws.
- 26. Daniyah:
The underwater city of Daniyah is also known as the ‘glowing city’ as the corals which belong to the local flora are bio-luminescent. Thus, despite the fact that Daniyah is built deep beneath the surface, the city is always illuminated.
- 27. Dai Chikyo:
The knowledge of when Dai Chikyo was inhabited has long been lost. The island has only been discovered 500 years ago due to its desolate location. The ruins which remain now indicate that the culture of Dai Chikyo was rather advanced. Due to the signs of destructions various ruins show, scientists assume that Dai Chikyo was destroyed and became desolate due to the influence of the ether deity on nature.
