It's sort of off-putting seeing Fluttershy with realistic hair, eyes, and wings, but with no acknowledgment that she has fur. The soft shading makes her fur look like plastic so she looks like one of those creepy dolls.

It's GIMP though, not photoshop
I use the path tool for the outlines, so I basically lay bezier-curves around my sketch with makes the outlines smooth. The hair I do in several iterations by gradually increasing the detailand finish it off with individual hairs with an airbrush. You can see it here [link] (though back than I used the ink tool, but I like the airbrush better for that now)
