“C’mon Cloud, he can’t be that great,” Reno tried to comfort the blonde as he escorted him to his room.  Cloud had gone quiet again and that wasn’t a good sign.  Granted Cloud didn’t usually speak much but there was a distinct difference between that quiet and true silence.

“…he just…” They opened Cloud’s room and Reno followed him in.  “…he isn’t but…it would be easier if I didn’t…never mind.”

“Hey,” Reno let one of his hands slip around the back of Clouds neck, bringing their foreheads together to touch.  “I’m here…like usual.  Just tell me what you need.”

Cloud just shrugged.  He didn’t know what he need and he was beginning to get confused about what he wanted and it seemed traitorous to accept Reno’s comfort, even though they had played the same game over and over.  Whether Reno was feeling unloved but overly fucked, or Cloud was feeling lonely, they were there with each other sucking, stroking, drinking, talking, or fighting the pain away.
