Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-18 01:13:19 +0000 UTC]
Yep! And no, Kitsumi isn't Chinese at all. It doesn't mean anything in Japanese or Korean either, so it's just a made-up name really.

wow really ? Kitsumi-Hime double barrel well its a nice name even if it has no meaning my real name is like really long so i just put ninja ..... I've learnt some Chinese but it takes so much time and IB doesn't give much free time!!

Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-19 00:56:14 +0000 UTC]
lol I haven't started the last two years yet, I'm dreading it already though. I took the first semester of IB physics SL just to see what it's like, and it's confuzzling.

Ah you are lucky you had preIB stuff i received a baptism of fire into the course but its chilled except HL maths thats killing me i'm dong my english oral right now but got distracted lol....i think you'll be fine i dropped physics do bio
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-22 19:50:26 +0000 UTC]
Yea, I'm not doing physics. Our highest class average for a unit test was 58%...
Is HL maths really that bad? I'm doing it...
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-06-23 14:13:29 +0000 UTC]
Ah well i'm not that gud at maths but i do my Work most of the time HL is about being a hard worker not just being smart it'll be hard at first but then you'll actually start looking forward to maths i don't know how but you do are you good at math?...yea i hated physics always plus bio is easier for the points !! Personally i say do HL maths by the way do you do preIB ? Coz i never that will help alot
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-25 21:29:42 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm doing preIB. I'm pretty good at math, second highest in my class.
What points in bio? how is it easier?
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-06-28 20:48:52 +0000 UTC]
Points as in to get a 7or a 6 its all hard work in the end but bio is the easier option to take if you don't really need a science...as for maths don't take it the wrong way but once you enter the class your previous marks count for nothing you start living in "the real world" as my teacher says just be stubborn and persistant and it will work out ...but you're doing preIB you'll have quite a head start instead of a baptism of fire like at my school !!

Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-28 20:54:56 +0000 UTC]
lol thanks for the warning My friend already dropped out of IB, and he already finished two semesters! Now I am dreading it...
My class is going to be the 4th cohort that's taking IB. The 1st one only had 9 graduates, and the 2nd one has 15... which is quite scary considering each grade has 200-700 kids.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-06-28 21:01:32 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha wow 15 !!!! We have around an average of 100 applicants 45 accepted and about 38 graduating each year!! Dropped out after all that work shame, hey no worries don't give up it'll be the best decision you'll ever make you'll feel like dying sometimes but in life you can only rest when you die lol just don't over procrastinate !!
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-29 23:08:10 +0000 UTC]
Wow!! Well, our IB programme is still fairly new, so there'll be more people... hopefully.
I'm not gonna give up, for sure. Mostly because I'm the type that, if I've already spent half my time doing it, I'll finish the work simply because I'll be wasting that half if I don't. I also like challenges, but I love procrastinating...
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-06-30 13:36:44 +0000 UTC]
Yea with that mentality it'll be fine hope the course treats you well ....yea people over the years get drawn to the IB but small classes are nice coz teachers can focus on you more and you can plan which homework the class will "forget" ...by the way can i ask which Uni you want to go to just out of curiosity
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-06-30 19:34:27 +0000 UTC]
I have absolutely NO clue. Probably somewhere in US, or one of the top 3 uni. in Canada. How about you?
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-07-02 00:05:35 +0000 UTC]
Top 3 in Boston God willing...if that doesn't work i'll just enter the lottery until i win
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-02 23:39:32 +0000 UTC]
lol Good luck with both I guess! Although I think you'll have more luck with the top 3 than the lottery... the most my family ever won was $20, and that was to cover the cost of the tickets...
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-07-03 06:52:33 +0000 UTC]
Hahaha i agree !! My dad one $300 over three years then he gave up !! But you never know...stranger things have happened btw does everyone in canada speak french just wondering ?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-03 14:45:23 +0000 UTC]
Not everyone. It's mandatory to take French from grade 3/4 to grade 9, but most people are just rudimentary at it. However, if you enter French Immersion, then most of your classes from senior kindergarten to grade 12 are in french.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-07-04 15:10:06 +0000 UTC]
Oh so its like if you are keen on french go to French Immersion if not stick to english? Pretty cool its just english 90% here which sucks because i prefer foreign languages english sucks its too common
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-09 22:10:49 +0000 UTC]
Well, you won't really know what you wanted to do when you were 6, so it's more like if your parents want you to do it.
English is so complicated! But Chinese is even more complicated... and both are the most common languages in the world.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-07-13 21:29:56 +0000 UTC]
Yea thats true we basically copy our parents till we become independant then they say we are rebellious teenagers....english is common and useful but a forgien language is much nice to know chinese is something else all those pronunciations i basic greetings and small talk but you must be extremely fluent if thats even correct english ?!? Its nice to be bilingual though atleast you can insult people you don't like and they won't know
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-14 04:27:23 +0000 UTC]
well, according to my mom, you can function fine in Chinese society if you only know 3000 chinese characters. In English, the number is 8000 words! So for my parents, chinese is a lot easier.
And it's kinda funny. My parents would never teach me any really BAD swear words, and the ones that I do know, I got from my other chinese friends. Who also just happened to teach it to the entire school, so they know they're being insulted...
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-07-14 12:38:23 +0000 UTC]
hahahahaha that's kind clever wow 3000
my friend knows 4000 so he must be average haha...yea most parents would avoid teaching kids swear words even if its gonna help them... and what are rally "BAD" swear words i thought all of them would be bad O.o ?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-14 20:54:51 +0000 UTC]
really bad ones would be the ones that would get you chased out of a store, and being refused service ever. They not only insult you, they insult your mom and your ancestors.
Think of it this way. Really bad ones in English are the F bomb and sh*t (for my parents anyways). Not too bad swear words are crap, damn and dammit.

Hahahahaha they couldn't handle "the real world" ....well their loss everyday i love IB more just a word of warning there are gonna be days wΡre you feel like crying and you might cry but its worth it !! Have you decided what subjects you want to do yet?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-07-29 17:06:13 +0000 UTC]
Yep! We don't have a really large selection to begin with though. Some courses are mandatory, like French and English SL. I'm doing Math, Biology and Chemistry HL, and psychology SL. How about you?
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-08-05 10:10:18 +0000 UTC]
Yea i can say the same for here, because we aren't a fully fledged IB school, i'm doing HL Maths chemistry biology and SL english french business studies biology is the easiest i'd say so far !! Do you guys start school next week? The american schools here start next week.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-08-05 19:31:14 +0000 UTC]
At least you have business studies! There wasn't enough people signed up for economics, so it was taken off... ;( I'd rather take economics than phycology.
When does your summer vacation start then? Schools here end at the end of June and start after labour day (first monday after September).
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-08-06 00:01:49 +0000 UTC]
Oh that sucks economics and chemistry are in the same block here so you can only choose 1 !! We have 3 terms we kinda follow the old school british system 1st term 3 months january to first week of april second term second week of april till first week of august and third term second tuesday of september till first wednesday of december our weather is quiet good so we don't really have a summer break because its winter during your summer then we have 9months of summer 3 of winter. its only good for sport either way i hate the cold
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-08-06 02:38:20 +0000 UTC]
What's the difference between economics and business studies?
We have 2 semesters, each is 4 months long with 2 weeks break somewhere in the middle.
I think I like winter better. Here, the air conditioning isn't provided in apartment buildings, but the heat is. So in the summer, I would be sweating buckets just by sitting, while in winter I would be nice and cozy in a pair of t-shirts and shorts.
Besides, when you're going outside in the cold you can layer on a ton of clothing, but in summer you can't really take off clothing, unless you want to walk around naked. Then you'll be arrested for public indecency or something like that.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-08-07 09:23:51 +0000 UTC]
4 MONTHS !! I would die 3 months is long enough, but i guess that long summer break is worth it. Hahahahaha good point well you can always go swimming in summer thts what most people do, but like not many have air-con just fire places and heaters it only gets as cold as 12degrees here. How cold does it get there? Haha sweating buckets try playing sport at 35degrees but yea the heat is uncomfortable no escape at least winter there's hot chocolate and blankets and hand warmers.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-08-07 17:17:53 +0000 UTC]
12 degrees? You call that cold???? Here we can get as low as negative 20 in the winter, but normally it's around negative 10ΛC. We also get the added advantage of snow! Which means snow days! Except we didn't get any last year. Or was that the year before? Hmm.
When I say sweating buckets, I mean, sweating buckets. I was just sitting there playing piano the other day, and sweat dripped down my nose. Seriously. It was gross. At least you have the excuse of playing sports to sweat.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-08-08 13:31:48 +0000 UTC]
-20 !!!! That would suck i went on a squash tour to cape town last month it was -2 every morning it wasn't too bad actually as long as i keep warm i'm happy! So the heating keeps you that warm in winter ? Wow you don't need to where jerseys and stuff indoors?
Wow ok that is pretty hectic !! So what do you do when its that hot? play sport in summer oh wait no school do your schools have sports?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-08-10 14:41:26 +0000 UTC]
As long as you're warm. My building is extremely heated during winter, so much that sometimes I can walk around in shorts and a tank top. At school, a jacket is all I need. However, I still need a coat when I'm getting to school.
While our school do have sports teams, we don't practice in the summer. Also, I'm not in any sports teams. I did get into the tennis team, but the practices conflicted with choir.
π: 0 β©: 1
ninjatwork In reply to Kitsumi-Hime [2011-08-11 11:26:40 +0000 UTC]
Wow that seems so cool i'd actually like that. School is usually cold because our school is like i ok i can't explain its basically a prepy school so everythin isn't under one building so no heating :/ .
Ah i play tennis too. Well sports a big thing like there are 10 big private schools including mine and its basically shows who the top school is so we have to do atleast one sport from 3rd grade every afternoon twice a week but its fun.
π: 0 β©: 1
Kitsumi-Hime In reply to ninjatwork [2011-08-17 02:14:25 +0000 UTC]
It's only because we live in a place that's below freezing a quarter of the year. All schools have heating. But we don't have AC except in the cafe and the library. And the computer lab.
We used to have a competition between the classes with sports. My year got stuck with Tug-of-War, and I was deemed too short to play. So I had to sit in the sidelines while everyone else had fun.... ;(
