Done in 05I love this character!
He's really cool, but not to many poeple know who he is yet unless your all caught up with the Naruto manga. Well for those who dont know, his name is Deidara and is a member of the Akatsuki organization. Deidara is from Hidden Stone village. His companion on his travels is Lord Sasori. Deidara utilizes a unique ability to create small clay creatures to which he can give life. These creatures can also grow in size and explode at his will. On the palms of each hand are a mouth, he will reach into his pouch to withdraw a portion of clay. The mouth will then consume the clay and then spit out the sculpted animal.
I actually cosplayed as this character at Anime Expo a few years ago befoer he was popular. Not to many people knew who I was, but I had fun! I actualy got the pose idea from a pose I did for some people at AX

Thanks for e explaining about Deidara... I've only seen one episode showing Deidara... It showed Gaara fighting Deidara I think Gaara was trying to protect the sand village... Ohh and the picture is awesome!!!

I cosplayed as Dei too! Oni-Con in October of '06.
I even made his stupid clay bird (Out of play-doh XD) That was such a pain.
But anyway~
I LOVE THIS. I've only done a few fanart of Dei.... he's about the only one of Naruto I draw, besides the rest of Akatsuki. I need to draw Sasu~ V_V

I love Deidara to pieces! He, of all the Akatsuki members, is my favorite. And, yes, Deidara is a he. There's only one female (shhh we don't know that yet!). The reason why he's referred to as both is because A) it's a joke and is supposedly funny, and B) because Japanese has no actual male/female determination and Deidara definitely on his own doesn't, he'll be called he or she depending on context and how the manga has been translated. He is, however, a boy.
