Description Seeing butterfly wings up close is an entirely unique experience. In case you didn't know, butterfly and moth wings are covered in tiny, fine scale-like bristles made out of keratin, just like our hair or nails. They're called setae (as any hair on an arthropod) and they reflect the light differently depending on the angle. That's why sometimes if you use the flash at the right angle, you might get bright purple colours on an orange wing, green colours, blue colours, or an entire rainbow (foreshadowing something that's coming soon after)
