Gil is Deltora's Grandfather, a weathered, old dragon that lives on Cordel. Once seeking to overturn the king to take control of Cordel himself, he now serves and holds the king in great respect, attempting to protect Cordel and its many races using what power he has left in his old ages. Gil is the oldest living creature currently roaming the lands, he holds the most battle experience and can still use all the old magics forgotten by most in modern times.
