Video: youtu.be/-1tqyrmK-q4Ah, Encanto. Like my IT Chapter Two Review, the last movie I reviewed, this video was made a year after the fact of me seeing the film. Now, I knew I wanted to review IT Chapter Two immediately after I saw it, but I didn't actually think I wanted to review Encanto until way later - after having sat with it for a while (and listening to the songs a bunch). Luckily, I still managed to do that thing I do where I dodge reviews of things I'm considering reviewing myself cuz I was just SO convinced that Encanto was a masterpiece, and thought, "I don't need GIANT CRAB PRODUCTIONS to tell me this movie's a mastapeece, I already know!" It really is hard to describe how much the movie won me over, the emotional rant at the end has been with me for a while. Encanto shows how feeling inadequate can be tough, but that it can also be tough being The Best, and Mirabel's journey of empathy was not one I'd soon forget, y'see. ...Right, the thumbnail. Well, it's based on the doors that La Casita spawns, of course. The design here indicates my talent is magic, like in the opening when I pull out the magic hat, but it's more accurate to say it's the magic of video-making, as pulling off that trick only needed a simple cut. Ahh, I shouldn't over-complicate it, y'know?
During the part where I call out Abuela's obsession with her reputation, I apologize if I sounded a little irate, and don't jump to any conclusions, I wasn't compensating for any real-life family drama or anything. ...Though, that's not to say I was acting during that part, y'know. No no no, I didn't summon that, when I recorded that part, I was actually FURIOUS. I'll give you the short version as to why: I record my audio at a studio, which you have to book for an allotted time, y'see. After entering the studio that day, I hear a knock on the studio door from a guy claiming he had a booking at the exact time I had mine. I double checked my reservation to make sure I didn't make a mistake (I didn't), and I told the guy he was probably mistaken, like the time he thought his reservation started was actually when it ended, and then he buzzed off. But then, he came back. I answered again, thinking he had talked to someone at the front desk to sort this all out. I expected to see one of those people, but no, guy was alone. Instead, he came back, not to salvage his "reservation," but because he thought I was "rude" earlier. I was losing my patience by this point. Y'see, the previous guy in the studio already overstayed his reservation by like ten minutes, which thus ate into my time, and now this guy was occupying my time even further for no reason other than spite. So, losing all respect for this guy and eager to get to work, I shut the door on him and finished setting up my equipment. I finally begin recording the part about Isabela's song, and I start to get comfortable, but then, knocking. I walk over to the door, slightly annoyed, look through the window, guy's gone. I open the door. Gone. I walk into the hall, gone. The guy ding-dong ditched me! He didn't even want my attention, he just wanted to BOTHER me! And after all that talk about me being rude, too, I couldn't believe how pathetic and spineless this guy was. It sounds like nothing, but regardless, I was really damn pissed off that he went and did that, and seized the moment to record the Abuela rant.
*sigh* Y'know... being able to express yourself is pretty important, y'hear? If you can't channel the rage into something, it just leeches energy off of you forever, y'see. Each video I release makes me feel a little more whole by emptying me out a little bit more, if that makes sense.
