Paper Mario/Mario Story style sprites for Reznor, a miniboss from Super Mario World.

While Mario and Luigi were focused on defeating the Koopalings in Dinosaur Land, they also found quite a few secret paths to other areas. Among them were four mysterious fortresses far tougher than what the seven Koopa kids incorporated. And waiting at the end of the fortresses were the oddest fauna the italian bros had seen at that point- four triceratops riding a woodwork carousel.
The Reznors were relentless, unleashing a firestorm of fireballs on the flame-adaptable duo. To the common novice, the Reznors seemed invincible.
Thankfully, the bros remembered their old sewer business and the Sumo Bros also in Dinosaur Land. Hitting them from below did the trick very easily. However, the remaining Reznors still had some tricks in their toenails, making for some tense fights.

It would be a very long time before the Reznors returned. During a completely superfluous and capitalist quest to rescue Princess Peach, the Mario Bros were surprised to learn some old faces were guarding the new forts. It was the Reznors again, and this time, assuming the bros took the long trip, they were on the main path to Bowser’s Castle. However, they seemed to have rushed the construction of their new carousels a bit, replacing the bouncy platforms with long Item Blocks, in turn making it more obvious what to do. The triceratops also seemed to have gotten rusty and slow with age- time had not been kind to them.
On an ironic note, Reznors were nowhere to be found in the secret worlds.

Beyond their two mainline appearances, Reznors got a costume cameo in Mario Golf World Tour. In addition, they were and are still among the Mario characters who appear in Minecraft’s Super Mario Mash-up, taking on Ravager’s role.

Reznor has not officially shown up in either the classic or modern Paper Mario games, despite being a mainliner useable for the latter. Like, this guy might have worked as a boss in TOK when you think about it- being on a wheel, spinning around, having to reach the target, the works.

In fan stories, Reznors have no doubt appeared quite a bit, on account of being classic and obscure Mario characters.
On a more personal note, while regular Reznors don’t appear in the Paper Mario Wonder Journey fantopic, a few unique ones do…
