I'm picturing this conversation between Masahiro Sakurai and Yasuhiro Fukushima, honorary chairman of Square-Enix, when discussing including this character into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:Fukushima: "So you're including Dragon Quest characters into your Smash Ultimate roster?"
Sakurai: "Yes."
Fukushima: "Well, I have a question about that."
Sakurai: "Yes?"
Fukushima: "Out of all 11 mainstream Dragon Quest games, which game's hero are you going to include?"
Sakurai: "Yes."
For real, though, if Sakurai really has made playable characters out of all these Dragon Quest heroes...
Seriously, I can't even imagine what would happen!
EDIT: Okay, so it turns out that only the heroes from Dragon Quest III, IV, VIII, and XI are playable characters. Still, props to Sakurai for including all of the mainstream Dragon Quest heroes in Smash Ultimate in some way.
