Yes, it does! I notice that from a distance, this thing really does resemble a shell (nautilus type).

This is incredible. If I could fave this two or three times I would. On small view it looks like spirals of peppermint bon-bons and then on full-view all the detail and transparency come into play. I like the glimpses of the bright background colors which might have been overwhelming but are just luminous with the overlay. You have outdone yourself with this one.

THank you so very much for that wonderful compliment! That made it all worth while. I put a lot of work and thought into this one...wanted something that had some depth, like so many good fractals I see people do (you, for instance!). I think color decisions are the hardest with these designs; it's almost as if you chose one wrong color, the whole thing is rendered useless. I went back and forth on several of the layers, but was most satisfied with this combination. The only thing I would change is to get more of a roughened surface, a "grungy sheen" so to speak. The image I was working with had that, but when I rendered this huge one, that roughened surface mostly disappeared. Anyway, I'm really glad you like this!

Sometimes, lots of effort pays off, but too many times, they end up in the "trash can" so to speak! Hard work doesn't always yield positive results! But when you get a winner, you tend to forget about all the losers!

Full view is a must! I love the semi-transparent look that gives us a view into the 'inner' part of it. And the colours chosen are also mainly my faves...

Thank you very much for your comment and . I worked quite a long time developing that translucent look, to give the spiral some depth and shading. I wish the texture looked a bit more pronounced, though; I'd like to see more of a silken sheen on the surface.

You're welcome for both. Well, I guess the way it looks you still did the best you could. But some works are never really perfect, whatever one does.

That's so very true! I think if I had rendered a much smaller image, the texture would have been more pronounced. But the original image was huge, so I guess it got lost in there.
