Description PLEASE FULLVIEW!

Drawn for Sabin Duvert/Arania's art contest on Gaia Online.

I wrote a short story along with this, something to follow as I made the pages, but I decided I'll just vent mostly in this particular entry. The story will be posted in the last page.

The character's name is Ambrose. He is a werewolf (which should become fairly obvious). I MUCH rather draw group pictures for contests, as I like those better, but Sabin/Arania didn't really have a group category. So it took me the longest time to figure out what I wanted to do. In the end I settled on the comic. I think I decided to go with a comic in order to challenge myself. I'd always wanted to make a comic like this, but had always been too lazy or unmotivated. Deadlines not set by myself always motivate me.

This entry took me forever. Originally I was going to do it on paper, but after a few practices I realized I was wasting trees, so I switched to openCanvas 3.05. The eraser option is a magical thing. The idea to color it came when I realized it sucked as a bunch of lineart and I didn't know how to make it look like a black and white page out of a manga.

So, after many hours of planning, many hours of sketching, many hours of inking, and many many hours of coloring I finished in the nick of time to turn it in. And in the end...I still wasn't happy with it. The hair/fur especially bothered me. I tried several different things with fur, but it looked even worse. openCanvas just wasn't helping in the fur deparment. I couldn't do the fur as I normally did. I needed something to signify hairgrowth in the second page, but I couldn't just have it on the second page, then never do anything with it again. So I had to keep adding fur to each panel.

Since I did this entry over the course of several weeks I realized that my technique with the airbrush and such kept changing. I either forgot what I did on the last page or I was too pressed for time to do it the longer way. So that's another thing that irks me about this comic. So you can look at this page, then compare it to the last few pages and you can see the differences.

There were suppose to be 7 pages, but I really just could not draw the muzzle growing and I was running out of time. So I had to cut that page out, but it worked out, more or less. I also dislike the panels. Boring. But after spending so long sketching out page ideas and sequences I really didn't have it in me after I'd already started to go back and make them more interesting.

....so yeah... I won best Transformation. ^^ I was glad I won something. I can't say I wasn't disappointed I didn't get a higher prize, but, then, I can't say that my drawing was worth that. I guess I just feel depressed that after all the time I put into it, I still ended up disliking my own entry.

Also, I had wanted the glow of the moon to be bright, that's why it's bright on the first page. Then it gets filtered when Ambrose pulls the drapes. That's why it's never really that bright again. I do like my moon. It may look stupid, but I had fun painting my moon.

...>_>

I have no advanced critique, but could you please include pictures to the future pages? I hate having to sift through someone's profile to find them.
