Your words were the bullets, trying to take me down, make me feel smaller. But I put their power into becoming better, and bigger. You didn't mean to, but you helped make these wings.Ash is dealing with someone really negative in her life, someone who doesn't believe in her, who doesn't -want- to believe in her. Someone who actually would like to see her fail just so they could say 'told you so'
It hurts when someone like this says things to try and bring you down, but she's using the situation to be a better person. He reaction is equal and opposite, she wants to be a special effect make-up artist for film and TV, and so she channeled her energy into creating this!
Then she cuts that person out her life. Go Ash!
I'm undecided about the style of this... but wanted to try something, so I went for it! But I'm not convinced by it XD
~I have a bit of time off from conventions now, so please expect lots more art from me soon!

ART CRITIQUE

Negative:
First of all it seems the left side where the left wing is seems to of had less attention from the right or so it would seem.
The reason why i say this is that the right wing is pretty spot on to how i would envisage it. The left wing has some blurring down the bottom but it doesn't seem to coinside with anything like motion excessive light. There's a grey squiggle on one of the bricks that looks like a test squiggle but it hasn't been removed. I get that there is more light on the left hand side at the top of the wing the cracks in the wall have been lightened but they seem too 2D some depth to be added to them and they look too sketched which takes away from their natural shape. The light on her fingers seems too bright like it blanks out anything on them i feel it needs a bit more of a softer touch to it and the light on her neck just needs some softer edging to it. The dark line between her lips is too sharp aswell it needs blending or softing so it doesn't look like the line is placed directly on top.
Positive:
The idea first of is once again great! The cracked brick wings are really well done bringing in both properties of wings and brick walls.
Still it's amazing what you do with faces her expression is pretty striking and also the detail is incredible. The way the dress is pulled down you really get the feeling of the clothing too how it acts and is moved. Everything is very life like well balanced the different shades of blue are great it's nice to see one colour in so many shades! As for the style i think it works well with your work gives it a rawer feel and when portraying emotion the rawer the better i always feel. I think it needs you to develop a bit but it's a good style.
Summary:
Over all a great idea a great colouring and very well drawn it has a few bits to work on but these could be corrected it really is a good installment to your theme of art and even thought the style needs some development i think it's a good one to have.
Personal Note:
On a personal note this one really strikes a chord with me it it's something i've had pretty much most of my life yet i battle it and fight it and even talk to people to help them battle it. I use their negative energy like a martial artist would use the oppositions weight against them i take it and use it to fuel me to get stronger. This is a fantastic piece hitting on an issue often overlooked and also how to solve it is almost never touched on.
