Description
Those little shoots of doubt started out so small...A WIP, which, in my usual fashion, has nothing much to do with the final image XD The colour and concept are completely different to the finished work ~It's a Work-un-progress really! XD
Hope you've all been good. Been a bit of a rough time for me. I'll be okay, just talking tings slow, which is tricky when you have two international convention to prep for
So sorry for lack of drawings recently, hoping to have a new one up by this weekend
~I'm very glad I can present this on the right day for WIP Wednesday!
So is anyone going to be at MCM Dublin Comic Con, or Fan Expo Toronto in the coming weekends? I'm working hard so I can make it to both
Peace, Love and Weeding Early,
Blue xxx

It looks wonderful, can't wait to see it finished
And your health of any kind is way more important to take care of first than anything else, and if there's anything I can ever do to help, I'm there ^^

I hope you don't mind me doing this - but I thought it would best help you! I took one of your drawings and shaded over it ^-^
Its' great you want to improve your colouring, you will learn, but it's all about practice!
At the moment I lot of your pieces are shaded quite 2 dimensionally, there is very little difference between the lights and darks, this makes them look quite flat. The trick is thinking about the object your painting in 3 dimensions, consider where the light is hitting, this will mean the lighter brighter part will be facing the lightsource, and the darker part will be facing away from it, or there might be a shadow blocking the light from a hand, or hair or whatever.
To keep it simple, what I've done to your painting is chosen one (and just one) substantially darker and slightly more saturated colour to shade each area, I chose a darker reddy-orange for the hair, a purpley-blue for the top and a blue-grey for the skirt. I blocked in where the darker shades would go keeping in mind where the light is coming from. I added a little highlight to the hair, you could add another darker shadow to all the areas to make it look even more 3d.
When working with shadows, new artists are often very timid. A great way to practice is finding a photo you like and paint from that, that way you get a feel of how colours change as they go darker and how light falls on objects in real life, you can then use that knowledge when you paint better cartoons
Good luck with your practicing!

Thank you for the advice! Im actually working on light sources and shadows on pencil and paper since I dont get that much time as I used to on the computer. But this will help me alot in the future. Again, thank you!
Also i might have screamed when I saw you comment because that means a lot to me. ;u;

Thanks! I'm not sure if I love or hate green.... I feel like a minty green colour is all over my mind right now, but it just doesn't love a lot of other colours! XD
