Description
A doll stands in the snow and wonders what the cold feels like. She's never hungry, never thirsty, never ill, always pristine, always beautiful... but would give all these up to feel the cold.. to feel human.
Just a conceptual sketch I finished off, I started it in the airport in Ireland; coming home from Eirtakon I was dropped off at the airport at 4:30am, it was dark, freezing and raining heavily, worst part was I was taken to the wrong terminal so had to drag my bags round to the other entrance. I though 'what a rubbish way to end a great weekend' then I looked around. In the darkness all the lights of the airport were bright, the heavy rain made them sparkle, and the whole world was dazzlingly reflected in the river which was once the road. It was beautiful. I took a deep breath of fresh, cold air and couldn't help but smile.
Often the things we think are negative can be viewed in a different light if you are prepared to look... cold, sad, hurt might feel bad at the time, but they turn to warm, happy and healed. The doll would do anything to feel them all. Embrace the dark as well as the light.
Peace, love and humanity,
~Blue x

Beautifully said. I experienced something similiar, maybe not as long as you but I had the same sentence in mind that kept me strong, made me keep on going. I watched others dance in the light from the dark corners. I definitely learned about the dark sides of life earlier than others.
When the darkness turned black I became my own candle. My own light. Ignoring it all becomes impossible because it swallows you up and won't let you out until you've excepted it and finally start to see the light in the darkness.
I admire every person who has managed to keep going with their own candle. Allowing others to add their flame and fire to it. Letting the light penetrate the darkness, the loneliness.
Welcoming every side of life with open arms, ready to embrace it or let it go again.

Curious: Would you mind if this picture inspired a story and I submitted it for tallenge? It's this online talent platform thing. I'd only submitted it if I liked it enough. If you don't want me to write about it, or submit it to tallenge, I totally get it.
Just asking, because if I didn't ask, I would feel like I plagiarized your work.

This is just lovely. I love all the emotion in this piece. The sadness and despair but also the possibility for hope and something new. People always pray and hope to feel nothing, to not have to suffer through things like pain or sickness or hunger, people crave to be better than others and more beautiful or sexy, but they don't realize what things that would entail, all the negative consequences and everything else that you would be forced to suffer through. It's true that you never know what you have until it's gone. People crave what they could never have and never think of all the bad things that go with what you want. This doll, this girl, she does. It's just so... Sad. To have to have what people want so badly, but know that it's over-rated and want what they have. It's sad.

There is also a kind of comfort in the dark.. I can sometimes find myself admiring how beautiful the dark can be. I love night-time, but I also mean for the more downer times of life as well.. Though at most, there's nothing beautiful about it at all.. But it happens sometimes, that I actually do find comfort in it, and I'm just there.
We should enjoy all of our feelings, because we are humans after all. We would never be able to feel joy if there wasn't for sadness and such.. We should look at the bright side of the dark, and remind ourselves that someday the current state you're in, will belong in the past.

You have great imagination and I love how you give your own interpretation/explanation. It's just amazing with how you use light and shading. The colouring makes me actually think of the cold temperature. Man, to sum it up I only need one word. Spectacular.

I honestly believe that what makes this particular piece of artwork so beautiful, is the time and consideration you took when writing your description. After reading your words I literally feel better about myself, and want to make a point to really look at the beauty of the world around me, especially during the times that I feel lonely and therefore look at the world in the same way.
However, the piece itself is also beautiful. I believe that you genuinely convey your message exceptionally well, and I could feel its meaning just by looking at it. And I think that is what makes you such an amazing artist. That is, you don't just draw. You take in the world around you and strive to express the feelings, both good and bad, that are a part of life. Your work is something to be appreciated. So thank you for sharing.

Your words make this piece even more beautiful. It's very impressive to watch an artist able to share his/her emotions with people, and make them feel the same thing. That's what true artists are, though. Art isn't a science that we learn. This is an expression of oneself, the materialization of a feeling. Very few are able to do such a thing and that's why DestinyBlue is so impressive.
