Description Mounds are not hybrid monsters, nor are they natural ones. A Mound is created when Clade fuses together a conglomerate of flesh and animates it with magic.

Mounds are not particularly dangerous at first. They are slow to move, slow to react, and generally slow in everything they do. They may look scary with their oversized mouths and sharp fangs, but the only real way one could bite you is if you stood still and allowed it to (which would mean you are insane). Unfortunately, Mounds become more dangerous as they rot (they aren't entirely alive, so things still eat away at them) and attract flies. The flies may not seem particularly threatening at first, but when maggots are laid in the monster they absorb quantities or dark magic and hatch into highly aggressive insects that buzz angrily around the Mound and attack anything that comes near.

In their early stages Mounds are good at nothing, but when they rot they become effective "monster" spawners. When attacking a village with abominations such as Regenerators darksack100.deviantart.com/art… Clade will commonly use Mounds to act as supports.

Fire magic is the only effective way to deal with a mound. It is easy to slice them in half and render them helpless, but the rotting flesh will still be there and the flies will keep coming. The only surefire way to eliminate a Mound and it's associated dangers is by cooking the entire monster and damaging it not physically, but chemically.
