Description
A continuation of Suburban Deep 's article on Lexus . This is him fully manifesting outside of his host, revealing the connective string to be the deflated form of invasive mind-jacking tendrils. This also reveals that the dominant figure did not actually have functional eyes or teeth, Lexus having repurposed both as his own long ago. Not only is Lexus one of the most powerful foes the party has to face, he is not a boss that waits behind his minions. Eventually once the party makes a name for themselves, Lexus realizes they are quite powerful... and therefore ideal for infestation. He sees them less as threats or enemies and more as cattle. Food.Lexus appears during an unrelated mission that doesn't involve attacking any really big names. At the end of the mission the protagonists try to leave a lair, only to find Lexus blocking the exit, serving as the real boss fight, and revealing just how monstrous he really is. He tells the party that the other oligarchs want them dead, but he wants them for himself. After some menacing dialogue he manifests fully and the battle begins.
All of Lexus's hosts are powerful opponents in their own right, even the ones that were unremarkable in life. They all have the same general strategy, but have different methods of inflicting damage and different stats. They do not bother to dodge attacks, so innacurate and multi-attacks are very effective. If Lexus's main host is attacked, however, the host with the highest health will jump in and take the entirety of the attack. Because of this, it is advised to target and dispose of hosts individually, one at a time, saving Lexus for last. Unfortunately Lexus's strategy takes a turn for the worse after losing two hosts...
Jonathan Akers has access to a variety of magic with low damage but high poisoning, blinding, and other debilitating effects that can be used on more than one person. He has a standard amount of health and should be high priority.
Terry Barth can shoot, which has a high critical hit chance and causes the bleed status on a critical. Nevertheless, his attack is not particularly strong compared to the others. He has a standard health pool but high defense, which ends up giving him the equivalent of a high health pool.
Lexus itself has very low health but extremely high defense, taking more than 80% less damage than his comrades and having immunity to most status effects. Often his turn is spent "thinking", which does nothing. Rarely he will bite a member and inflict paralysis. After losing two host bodies he will begin using the move "infest" on the party. Lexus may attempt to infest anyone, but Mickey is functionally immune and Andrew has a chance to dodge the attack, recieving the terrified status effect instead. Clade is the one most likely to be successfully infested. Any infested teammate disappears from the action menu and appears as an infested enemy on the screen, accessing the same attacks they had before. Infested teammates may spend a turn "resisting" instead of attacking, and will not block Lexus if he is targeted. Cannonically it takes time for Lexus to fully take over and kill a host, so infestation does not kill your party members and they are rescued at 1hp after the battle.
Victor Newn has the highest damage output and inflicts elemental status effects that do still more damage over time. He has the least amount of health, being the body of a child. The easiest way to deal with Lexus is to take Victor out first.
Natalie Barson has the highest health pool, but her attack is often innacurate (the same subconscious force making her hold the weapon is also making her resist using it on anyone other than Lexus). If she hits, however, she has a chance to stun.
After all existing hosts are destroyed (not counting party members), Lexus himself can be targeted. In his first form he still inhabits a body, but in his second he exists alone, a splayed, tentacular wormy creature still wielding a stolen face (and whatever infested party member, if any, has not been KOd). Mickey will do slightly more damage to him in phase 2, and Andrew does triple damage, having been hesitant to kill infested people but completely on board with killing Lexus itself. Clade's damage remains unchanged. Lexus only bites and strangles in this form, much less dangerous without his hosts.
Lexus's defeat awards the party a great deal of experience and marks the first time the party defeats an oligarch.
