4-20-10like a wave
pouring down
a tsunami
towering above me
threatening to engulf me
(yes I know this is cliche)
and
suddenly it's gone
and I am floundering
frantically trying to keep my head up
frantically trying to keep breathing
but as soon as I weaken
it drags me down
my head goes under
and I break
tossed in a violent sea
thrown from wave to wave
punched
pummeled
pushed under
I finally surface
gasping
salty water streaming down my face
lying on sand -- an island of calm
but the waves lap at my feet
threatening to suck me under
once more
and then
before I know what to expect
I am drowning again
this time with no hope for survival
