I hope you enjoy! I'm writing these ahead of time so I can post them daily (Marching band schedule has me busy!) so I might not edit them based on your comments, but critiques are always appreciated!

A ceiling. That was the first thing the woman saw when she opened her eyes. Not the office style drop down ceiling, but a warm, cozy wooden ceiling. She panicked for a moment, unaware of where she was or how she got here, but soon calmed down after she realized she was in no danger. A warm, crackling fire flickered in the stone fireplace, illuminating the room with a soft orange glow. The Christmas tree was still up, even though it was almost a week after New Year's. She sat up, a twinge of pain hitting her gut, her stomach rumbling angrily to remind her she was without food still. She didn't care. She was too comfortable to move, wrapped in blankets and pillows like a burrito. A plate of chocolate chip cookies and a mug of hot chocolate sat next to her on a table. She was in paradise, even if the cookies were burnt and the hot chocolate had gone cold. She quickly devoured the cookies and drank the hot cold chocolate. She had never felt more content in the world than she had right then. She had been saved. She could go back to her precious Autumn. Her baby girl. Tears sprang to her eyes as she remembered putting her precious child in her parents arms, saying "Goodbye! Be a good little angel for momma and poppa while I'm gone!"/ She had only planned to be gone for three days. It was getting close to three weeks. She sighs and stands up, heading into the kitchen, hoping to see the stranger who had brought her to this little slice of heaven. Of warmth and comfort. There was no one there. A note was on the kitchen counter. She picked it up and read it.

"Be out for a bit. There's food and water in the fridge if you're hungry."
