Once human but no more, she is the Daughter of Darkness, the Devourer of Hope, she is Despair.

Chosen from amongst the most promising members an ancient cult, Despair has been empowered, along with her sisters Devastation and Deception, by the magics of Mother Darkness to be one of her avatars upon the Earth and to work to return the world to a primitive ,chaotic, state and free Mother Darkness from her eons old prison.

Despair couples her fighting skills and dark magic with the ability to read her opponent's minds and force them to face their own guilt, secrets and inadequacies. Despair feeds off the emotional maelstrom her powers create, growing stronger as her opponents weaken.

She is the first Daughter to make her presence known in Verdant, as she works to build a cult of devoted worshipers who try to appease their dark mistress so she will spare them her touch. Despair operates alone for now, but one has to wonder how long it will be before her sisters Devastation and Deception join her and what the cult of Mother Darkness wants from Verdant.
