XD So what are your thoughts/hopes for Legend of Korra?

hopefully, it will make us forget about M. Night's failed film and invite us back into the world of avatar... it looks set 100 years after the war has been finished by the previous avatar Aang. apparently 'Korra' is a girl's name and has some irish background meaning 'from the mountain' so could this be a future earth-bending avatar? it looks like, because after avatar aang dies, the next element in the avatar cycle is earth, i think.
so hopefully it should reignite the fan-flame and also get some more new-coming fans into the avatar fold!

Actually, water is next, I believe. Korra also screams watertribe to me (they love their "k"s). So it will either be 1)Aang's daughter, 2) an Avatar from the past ("Legend" seems to give this idea some weight), or 3) It will be an Avatar from a good ways in the future.

really? awesome. i did some research on the name, and came up with 'from the mountain' which could also be taken as 'water from the mountain". i doubt aang will be little more then a legendary tale and a flashback to the characters in the next series, but apparently there will be flashbacks to the first series, possibly through the avatar state. i believe it is definitely set 100 years after the last airbender. according to a fan website, someone contacted the producers and they released a statement of some sort. just keep in mind that the legend of aang is one of the alternative titles to the last airbender, so it might not necessarily mean a previous avatar. i just can't wait till it comes out!

my favorite season overall was the first, it was really well done, with the characters and such. the only reason i didnt like the last season was because it was just that- the last season! i wanted it to go on for longer...

I've got my own issues with the 3rd season and the end of the 2nd, but that comes down to being a writer myself and disagreeing with certain choices they made (deus ex lionturtle anyone?). But yeah, hopefully LoK will make us remember everything we loved about the old series, plus some. I just hope they don't try to hard to tie it to the first series. If they over do it, it could keep it from being good in its own right, you know?

yeah. i hope that it will have a connection with the last one, but a connection similar to the first series in regards to avatar Roku and aang. he comes up a bit, but he doesnt overwhelm the series which is good. something like that would make the next series really good, having little references here and there to the previous series, but not having too much so that it points newcoming fans back to watching the first series and reminds old fans of it.

Korra: Okay, time to go do legendary stuff! But before I do, let me go talk to Avatar Aang and see if he has any wisdom for me.
Old Aang: Why, when I was your age, I didn't have anyone to teach me to be the Avatar! I had to fly on Appa 15,000 miles in the snow just to find a waterbending teacher, and that's uphill both ways mind you. Which reminds me of that time that Sokka fell into that snowdrift looking for the frozen remains of a sealion roast he'd dropped...
Then again, that would be pretty hilarious XD Either way, it'd be nice to see Aang grown up. Though I'm still pissed that they never told us what happened to Ursa! *seeth*

all will be revealed in time. i dont think they would leave it hanging like that for no reason... they must have some sort of trich up there sleeve, whether it be a future sequal to the last airbender that takes off straight after the first series, ir whether they release a comic or something explaining it all.
but yeah that would be a drag, but at the same time really funny XD just reminded me of when aang was pretending to be an old man to get into omashu XD

Hehe, first season goodness <3 Though I have to say, early second season was probably my favorite. Experimenting with the Avatar state, gaining Toph as a member, seeing Zuko slowly start the path to redemption, etc., It's part of what made the 3rd season so bitter/sweet to me. It was all filler and character development when the characters had already been pretty developed, and they should have been focusing more on the coming final battle. I mean there were several episodes pre-Day of Black Sun that served no real purpose that could have been used to start introducing plot threads that would come up later (or give Combustion Man more screen time. His short life span in the series was criminal. Create and awesome villain, then toss him aside once you're through with him.)
Btw, you seem to be a big fan like me. Would you like to hear some of my "you know what would have been cool" ideas for the series?

Okay well, it would have been awesome to see more of Toph and Zuko interacting, of course.
But as for Combustion Man, how much more awesome would it have been if he didn't die? He would have been continually stalking them throughout the rest of the series, popping up whenever they thought they were safe, interferring with their plans in the finale and whatnot. Just get more use out of the guy, for crying out loud. He only got like, 15 minutes of screen time.
Also, the Azula/Zuko fight. I have a much better way for it to have ended. When Azula realizes she's loosing, she starts to lightning bend and aims for Katara. Zuko jumps to save her and... Azula's lightning explodes in her face. We all saw what happened to Zuko when he tried lightning since he was so torn up inside. You expect me to believe Azula going psychopathic could still pull it off? Bonus points if she gets a face scar from it.
And speaking of Azula going insane, it would have been nice to develop that more. It came on awfully fast and conveniently if you ask me.
And I only have 3 more words for you. Show. Iroh's. Escape.

haha yeah i agree with all of that. also, i found the Agni Kai between zuko and zhao in the first season so much more awesome because of the different/ clever fighting moves they used, albiet a hell of a lot shorter then the final Agni Kai. i found the fight between azula and zuko was a bit less then spectacular. sure the fire was huge and all, but the moves where really simple and youd seen them before. i reckn that we should have seen azula's decent into madness at the boiling rock, where the reason of her madness occured. and yeah, ida loved to see Iroh kick that jerk of a guard's butt XD
i think combustion man should have been introduced earlier, appear to have died and then brought back unexpectedly. that would have been awesome.

That was my problem with the 3rd season in general. They introduced a lot of really good plot threads, then either tied them up quickly somewhere around the middle, or just left them dangling. I personally feel that Avatar peaked as a series sometime before the finale of season 2, probably when they forcibly went to see the earth king for the first time. I still disagree with the decision to have Zuko join Azula at the end of season 2. The entire season was devoted to his character development and him becoming good, not to mention showing us that he knows Azula is an evil liar, so his betrayel comes off less as a shocking revelation and more a wallbanger, to me at least. Same with the Deus ex Lionturtle; I mean, sure, there had been statues of lionturtles in the series, but we were never given any inkling of a thought that they were massive spiritual behemoths who were older than the Avatar and could bend the very spirits (which seems dangerously close to something out of a fanfic imo). Honestly, I think the show would have benefited from being TV-14, because then we could have got a bit more action and consequences of action. It's moniker as a children's show stiffled it.
And CM needs so much more love T-T He was one of the coolest villains of the series, and they kill him off before he gets to do anything. Lame move guys, lame move.

yeah, but it does have the audience going 'wtf? NOOO ZUKO!!! WHY DID U DO THAT?!?' and then people go 'i gotta tune in next time and see if he finally gets the balls to get outta there...' lol i think they did it because they had the idea of zuko versus the firelord during the invasion firmly planted in their minds, so they had to continue his evil side a bit untill they came to that episode.

yeah. i reckon that the thing that really drew me to avatar was the characters, and how people can identify with them. i think i identify most with Sokka, being somewhat cynical, sarcastic, being able to draw a smile on someones face and a bit of a klutz XD
