Description
Korra from a front view.i really have no idea what her face looks like, but i took some ref pics from Yue and Katara and there we have it.
i personally don't think she has a fringe because the north/southern water tribe women never had them as part of their cultural style so, that explains that lol i really enjoyed making this for y'all! man, Korra fever is catching, eh?

Oh, I know she's not related. But there's probably some diehard Zutarans out there saying to themselves,"Yes! that should be Katara and Zuko's granddaughter!" I don't support that ship, but the fannon's so strong it automatically popped into my head!

I really like it. Her expression is very intense. When I first saw the teaser pic, I didn't think it was a girl until I read the article. I am glad she is a tomboy too since Toph and Sokka were my favorite chracters.
From the webbie, the bad guys are part of some "anti-bending" terrorist group so hopefully we get to see some new weapons and fighting styles too.
And, perhaps, find out how many kids everyone had! Especially Toph, I just hope she found someone who made her happy.
One question springs to mind: how is Aibender more dominant in the bending gene pool than Waterbender? And besides, the article never said Aang and Katara stayed together. It just says "Aang's son" not "Aang & Katara's". Just making people think a bit.

Reminds me of Sokka I hope she looks like your depiction, it's really cool <3
I'm interested in seeing how the time lapse affected the Water Tribe - I mean it's obvious that the Earth Kingdom would get steampunkified cuz they were majorly infiltrated by Fire Nation, so it would make sense for them to start to get influenced in that direction. The Air Nomads were wiped out, so there's not much left to be influenced @_@ Although, as I recall, one of the Air Temples is already like that, so...but the Water Tribe? Fire nation didn't manage to touch them beyond wiping out benders in the south pole @_@ Can't wait to see it ^^/ramble

lol well, thanks to Aang procreating( am i allowed to say that on this site? lol) with Katara, the Airbenders are on the rise, and so are the water benders thanks to Pakku and the other water benders left at the beginning of season 2 to go and help their sister water tribe. apparently, the city where it's all steampunked is'nt in any nation- it's a mix of ALL nations- yeah i know, go figure how that's gonna work lol. but yeah it looks interesting. i just hope they can make it work.
and thank you!

There's nude art on this site I think procreating is fine xDD Besides, you'd be surprised what kind of Avatar fanfiction is out there -shudders-
o__o That makes like no sense. Where would this city BE? All the land in that world belongs to one of the nations, so unless one of them gave up some land (which also makes no sense because most land is already filled up with people of that particular nation unless you're the Southern Water Tribe and nobody really wants to live on an ice tundra unless they grew up around there), there's nowhere for them to go @_@
Hm. Maybe Aang used magmabending to summon up a giant new island? @_@ -has trouble seeing that-
There's a lot of loose ends to that but I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

So now the concept graduates from rural China to Hong Kong. I actually think this is the logical evolution for the Avatarverse. The technological leaps taken throughout the original series were, I don't want to say "egregious," because that's wrong, but there was no progression, no segue at all between hot air balloon and death zeppelin and there was this odd mix of steam powered prop ships and medieval trebuchets and jetskis and submarines... it was all just too wacky, but I loved it.
Now the Fire Nation is just pushing the rest of the world up to their level. They don't have to funnel all their resources into war anymore, so they can work on more civic constructs and "share their greatness with the world!" bellowed Sozin from his grave.

lol yeah i just hope they don't advance as far as steam powered motor cars and ranged weapons resembling sniper rifles and AK-47s. it would totally ruin it if it did... i mean, who needs kung fu and bending with a semi auto at your side lol
there probably wasn't much tech progression in the first series cos it took place over the course of about six months-not enough time to deviate from the plotline to explain the different advances that have little to no impact on the story. i mean the death zeppelins are awesome, but they weren't a huge part of Aang's story line. yes, i'm not forgetting Sokka, but it would have been pretty boring cutting back to shots of some random fire nation scientist working on the contraption. better to not confuse the audience and keep it simple to keep the story line at it's pace instead of slowing it down to allow time for people making flying things lol.
on the other hand, if one of the team's missions (lets say Sokka) were to infiltrate a fire nation science lab and destroy the prototype it would have worked, but then again how would they have known they even had a prototype? remember they thought the balloon was destroyed near the air temple. they didn't know that it had been salvaged by fire nation troops.
damn that was long... lol XD but anyways, in tv shows especially it's good to keep things simple so the audience can focus on the main characters, and leave all the other details (such as said discussion above) to the audiences imagination- it keeps them interested enough to keep coming back and watching for more answers

I agree, totally. I just feel that the technology has an over-accelerated production time. They go from not having it, to having an armada with fully trained crews for things that didn't exist months ago. It smacks as Deus Ex Machina, but a solid plot and interesting characters can prompt a lot of suspension of disbelief.

yeah have to agree there. too much too fast. but with the time period being 6 months, and not knowing whether a next season would be bought by Nickelodeon it's kinda understandable that they needed something interesting fast lol

yeah me too i didnt mean that there was no good fanart, there's just not much
lol i hope its good. although i'm not sure a steampunk themed world is a good idea... i mean, steampunk includes contraptions like cars and guns, so making a jump that much in 70 years from ancient asia to victorian era is kinda... unrealistic compared to the first series... but i hope they don't advance that much. and a decent bad guy! i hope it has a decent bad guy lol.

Hmmmmm... Okay, I had to look "Steampunk" up, because I've never heard of it. According to Wikipedia it has, "prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions." Hmmmm... I don't think it's TOO far fetched. The city in the picture that was released of Korra looks to me like one straight out of the Industrial Revolution from it's earliest times. Also, "The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era Britain" They kind of had "steam power" in the series already. In the episode where Zuko and Sokka go to the boiling rock. It is how the airship flew. Now to mention the fact that the Mechanic from the (what was it, Northern Air Temple? Teo's father) was very adept with making new inventions. If he had a hand in establishing the city, I can see how it would be pretty industrial. (Remember what the Northern Air Temple looked like when Aang first found the gliders?) Also, don't forget that the fire nation is supposed to be the most technically advanced.
Also, it looks to me from Wikipedia that "Metal" has a heavy hand in Steampunk. Hmmm... I wonder if Toph had anything to do with that?
One other thing, I don't know if you're a Rurouni Kenshin Fan, but that series takes place in the 1800's? Not Ancient Asia by any means...but in....err, it's been so long since I watched it. In one season (I want to say the third, but I can't remember off hand) the machine gun makes an appearance. I personally don't like Guns in that kind of story (They don't seem like much of a fair fight against a sword or fist) but I don't think it's entirely impossible if someone had come up with some form of a gun in the avatar world. I mean, guns (crudely made ones) have been around since, what, the 1700's? (or earlier) Sorry, I'm not much into this stuff...so I'm actually kind of dumb about it.
But, yeah. I hope they don't advance the series THAT much. *LOL* And yeah, having a decent bad guy is important, or else the series get's old, fast...

Gentlewolf In reply to Devfrost2000 [2010-07-24 04:58:41 +0000 UTC]
... Gran-gran is too old to have a child.
And why would her parents be of the northern water tribe when she's from the southern water tribe?
I was sort of wondering if perhaps her grandfather might be Sokka... I mean, the timeline fits. Aang and Katara's son is probably in his 30's or 40's. So, if Sokka married and had a kid, then they would be around the same age... and it's very possible for someone in their 30's or 40's would have a teenage daughter.
I wonder if we'll get to find out what happened to Sokka and Toph..... though I'm sure that, since Sokka and Suki are cannon, that they married....

O_o lol i was joking lol damn, it's so hard to do sarcasm over the net... ahh well lol SOKKA?!? hmmm Suki... but what about the whole being an avatar? i mean, can Non bender parents have a bender kid? very intriguing... im sure almost all answers will be revealed soon enough...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Gentlewolf In reply to Devfrost2000 [2010-07-24 05:28:53 +0000 UTC]
yeah... sarcasm is sort of lost over the internet.
Hmmm, I don't see why not... I mean, Katara's parents obviously aren't benders... her father isn't, and it says in the episode during book 3 when Zuko helped Katara to find the guy who killed her mother that her mother was lieing about being the last waterbender in the tribe in order to protect Katara, (who was the actual last waterbender in the southern water tribe at the time.)
And I'm pretty sure that the reincarnation of the avatar is pretty random, except for the obvious of switching nations with each birth... After the avatar from the air nomads would come one from the water nation, after the avatar of the water nation died then one would be born in the Earth kingdom, and then Fire.....and repeat..... I don't think the Avatar has to be born of any specific parentage though. Remember, they determine who the Avatar is by what four toys they pick as children. Supposedly if they pick the favorite toys of the previous avatar, then they are the reincarnation... Also, the Avatar isn't supposed to be told they are the avatar until they are 16... Aang was told early because of the war. So, this makes sense in Korra's case, that she is a teenager.

I haven't seen any news yet about it. They're probably waiting until the last day to be dramatic...
