"Humans are such dependent beings. We rely so much on what we have. Unlike other creatures, we worry about a tomorrow. We will forever live in fear of losing our belongings, our relationships and our identity.Isn't it terrifying how all that can be instantly taken away from you?
I press my back against the frosty wall. I wipe my tears away with my hood as I watch my home - or what used to be my home - burn to the ground.
I hold King Arthur tightly against my chest. He buries his face in my arms, his heart beating close to mine. He lets out a sad meow.
An alarmed crowd gathered to put out the fire. I try to keep myself from making any noise, hiding myself further into the shadows.
A neighbour of mine spots me. 'There she is!' I grab King Arthur with both my hands and burst into a sprint." - D
