“Balarama Transforms into Shesha,” is the title of my latest Pen and Ink Illustration with Graphite Pencil.…As Krishna’s brother Balarama quaffed the last precious drops of his wine…with tears in his eyes and an ever so slight smile on his lips…he fell into a drunken meditative stupor, contemplating upon the death of his brother….while seated under a tree in his beautiful garden on the hillside by the ocean…
Balarama’s body and essence transformed back into the seven-headed serpent Shesha from a jet of light piercing through the third eye between Krishna’s beloved brother’s two eyebrows! Each of the Serpents heads…continually singing the praise of Vishnu/Krishna…With the ocean waters beckoning the sea creature, Shesha entered the waters…as Krishna’s enchanted city, Dwaravata’s shining spires, domes, and buildings sank beneath the waves never to be seen ever again! Thus ended Krishna’s reign on earth! So it is stated in the ancient Indian Hindu Epic, “Mahabharata.”
(Shesha is a serpentine demigod, as well as a primordial being of creation in Hinduism. Shesha is said to hold all the planets of the universe on his hoods and is constantly singing the glories of Vishnu from all his mouths. It is said that when he uncoils, time moves forward and creation takes place; when he coils back, the universe ceases to exist.)
( Balarama is holding on to his warrior mace and his plowshare is laying on the ground next to him on the other side. He legendary fought with both weapons at various times when Dharma was needed! The plowshare symbolizes him as one of the first elder fertility gods.) 🙏🏻🥰😔😰
