Description this is a tiny tiny snail shell found in my garden while i've been gardening on vacation. how tiny? i have very very small hands - and it would take about 4 - 5 of these to fill my thumbnail. its resting on a slate fountain i have here - thanks to my super macro mode on my Pentax (up to 2 cm w/clarity) i got the detail of the little thing in color and ridges. there is so much beauty in our world we never even notice

give him his due and full view

Oh wow, that's awesome! It's amazing that you were able to get such a large image of such a small thing You set the shot up beautifully, too. This really was an awesome find.

Wow... I'm staring at my thumb right now, trying to Really imagine. It's hard. Seeing all the detail up so close - all the little ridges, I think anyone else would have simply moved over this shell without noticing, or without a second thought. I'm glad you've shared it with us.

The interesting thing that I always am reminded of when I think of snails is this: Which do you prefer: snails or slugs? Most people I think would answer snails. They are adorable in their little shells I like them better myself... but I feel like their only difference is a shell - and because of that the snail is always favored unfairly. I feel like it confirms a world of shallowness, where we'd pick the person with the pretty clothes... even though she is standing next to an identical twin. I dunno though - perhaps I've taken this thought overboard

Anyway... I think I'd like to look inside that shell... I wonder how they're formed... how they grow. Do they grow? I sorta think so...

For something that teeny-tiny, it has great detail on it. Excellent textures and an interesting color.

Cool macro, m'dear.

you remind me how much of a better camera i need. excellent shot, i love how dark but defined the colors are, and how well they work together.

this is my camera's forte - super macro. i have a pentax optio 550 compact camera now - 5 megapixel. i'm going for a canon 20D digital slr end of year. what i love about the pentax is that it has macro -a nd then this - super macro - mode. i got it off the net for about $500 last year - i bet you can get one for around $400 of the net now

Gosh, I was just planting bulbs today and found a snail shell, probably the same size, so tiny. Showed it to my daughter, never thought of taking a picture of it or even using it creatively. Bravo!

I adore the tones and the light, nice interplay and contrasts...lovely composition, nice flow and lines...I like the texture blends, and the tones are so nostalgic, giving this a 40s feel.
