Found dead in an alleyway, its happened again, another victim and still they had no suspects. The officer stood outside the victim’s house looking for the next of kin. The husband opens the door “Yes officer how may I help you?” the man asks as he waves the cop into the house “Can I get you something? Coffee or tea maybe?” the cop shakes his head in decline and clears his throat “Sir do you happen to know the current where abouts of your wife?” The man looked at the officer and motioned for him to sit “She called to say she would be working through the night so she should be home shortly I’m sure, why do you ask?” he asks as he takes a seat across from the cop who had just spotted a picture of the couple on their wedding day .

The officer struggled for a moment to keep his composer, this was the first time he had ever delivered the news of a loved one’s death before. The officer fumbled for the words as he moved over to the picture “Is this your wife sir?” he asks as he picked the picture up and recognized the woman as the victim. The man’s face lit up as he gave the officer a nod “Yes that is from our wedding day, she looked beautiful if I do say so myself” he offered as he took the photo and set it back down again and turning to the officer, again curiously asking “What seems to be the problem officer?” a quizzical look on his face as he noticed how pale the cop had grown.

Reaching into his pocket, the officer produced a photo of a woman on a morgue table, her eyes closed and skin pale “Sir this is hard for me to say, is this your wife?” he asked as he handed it to the man. Taking the photo, the man looked over the photo as the tears welled in his eyes. He nodded to the officer and with his voice shaking as bad as his hands, he asked how. The officer still fighting to keep himself together shook his head “As of right now we are still looking into it, I am sorry for your lose sir.” He says as he moves towards the door “We will let you know once we know something further” and with that the officer was gone.
