Musical Inspiration ;;Ryan Star Behind This Image;;Made to honor the horses (Ornais & Dooneys Gate) who died in the Grand National yesterday (Saturday 9th April), Ornais was a 9yr old Bay gelding, who fell at the 4th fence and broke his neck on landing. Dooneys Gate, a 10 yr old Brown gelding fell at fence 6 and broke his back. 31 horses have died in the Grand National over the last 11 years; 2000 - 2011, it is so wrong on so many levels, but it's like nobody gives a flying fuck! So sick it make me wanna heave. It's all about money; now if the jockeys died instead of the horses, that would be a different matter entirely woudln't it!? I wish we would follow suit to Australia, and ban steeplechasing outright.Rest in peace you beautiful babies, I only wish you had had another life and that it hadn't ended so soon, for human entertainment. <3

Bless their little hearts. I'm heartsick over what happened and will never understand why it keeps happening. This is a beautiful and moving piece. The wings are well fitted to the color, atmosphere and texture of the horse. You can tell it was heartfelt.

I am very impressed by the change of fur to wing. And the colour of horse body and wings fits perfectly. It looks like those wings were made for the stock horse

[link] Reduce it now. Seriously. There's no need, some of them pictures are awful. Simply calling them "obstacles". Sure racing wasn't designed to cause the animals pain or discomfort and they have a hell of a better life than other horses and even people. I'm not saying ban the Grand National, but hell, reduce the length, reduce the height of the jumps and it won't be so harsh on the horse's.
But this is stunning! It really is, when I saw it I thought it might be in tribute to them. It's beautiful, lovely work!

I love the way the feathers of the wings flow into the shoulder of the horse like, flawlessly. And the marks on the face, I love those too. There's so much to look at! It's beautiful, and the message behind it is even more beautiful.

It's for the money and the thrill. I get pissed off sometimes at horse racing in general - it's significantly less dangerous than steeplechasing and some of the horses literally live to run, but nonetheless it kills me inside to hear of accidents or people who couldn't care less about the animals themselves. >.<
