Earthpaw padded through the terrain of Clawclan, looking down at his paws while anxiety of the upcoming war between Clawclan and Mistclan rises. He wasn't ready, Earthpaw didn't have the confidence. When Froststar announced that they planned to attack Mistclan, horrible memories flashed back to the medicine cat apprentice of his apprentice days. The horror, the fear, the blood all made their way back into the tom's head. And here he was, with the sudden weight of everyone's life on his paws. "A-Am I'm j-j-just not ma-made out to b-be a me-medicine cat? O-Or a C-Clawclan c-cat?" Earthpaw asked himself, doubting his own skills, small tears forming in his eyes. "I-I! I re-really am pathetic! H-How..? H-How can I p-protect my f-family now!" He sobbed, remembering his younger brother's harsh words sink deeper in him. "M-Mom..D-Dad...everyone.."

The sky darkened as well as his mood. Earthpaw felt hopeless, for himself and his ability to heal. Small lights flickered nearby the tom, gaining his attention. His looked up, seeing a bunch of small bugs emerge from the darkness and shine in front of him. The sight of the fireflies lightened up the mood slightly for the young apprentice. Earthpaw continued to watched the flickering lights with awe as one came close to his face, settling down on his muzzle. The insect twitched and fluttered, staring back into Earthpaw's amber eyes. Staring at him with big beady eyes, almost like they were trying to speak out to him, to say not to give up.

Maybe..Maybe he wasn't a lost cause.
