You should try drawing the gesture first with long fluid lines.The goal is to capture the gesture and not details. Within 2 minutes nobody can draw the full figure with all muscles and details like you were trying to do. From a technical standpoint what you were doing is wrong. You work from point A to B and at the end everything falls apart because nothing is really connected.

There's also the cartoonist method where you start with a circle for a head and then the dynamic line for the spine and work from that way on. John Krikfausi and mentioned that. It's really made my poses more dynamic that way.
I definitely agree with you. Some of these poses are rigid.

Oh man . . . these are some fantastic poses. I'm already trying to think of ways I could use them in some way shape or form in my own artwork.
