The back sheep of a noble Filkarian merchant family, Rynard squandered his youth in pursuit of wine, women and song, rather than following in his father’s footsteps like his younger brother has.  Earning a reputation as a dandy, philanderer and callous scoundrel, until his reprehensible antics reach a point that his family, as well as those of the many young maids he beguiled, charmed then heartlessly discarded, could no longer tolerate.  Threatened disownment, which would’ve left him without the protection afforded by his noble bloodline, he claimed his family’s nearly forgotten heirlooms from the Melnibonean revolt two centuries ago, a virtuous broadsword and half-plate armor, and took to the open road, wandering the length and breadth of the Young Kingdoms as a troubadour in search of adventure, new tales to tell, new songs to sing and new women to romance.

 

Encountering the renegade dragon lord, Daeron Syn, and a Myrrhyn merchant woman on a quest to gain the wings she was denied at birth, Rynn Stormbourn, in Cadsandria, he ensconced himself into their company with the intention of penning an epic ballad, “the Song of the Darkwolf”, telling the tales of Syn’s many adventures... to the Melnibonean’s harden disapproval.   

 

A philandering rake and irresponsible rogue, Rynard views life with tongue-in-cheek humor and a casual, nonchalant attitude.  Seldom taking anything seriously and generally amounting to little more than an embarrassment to his family’s name, he indulges his whims for the pleasures of life with little regard for the consequences... and a seemingly inexhaustible reserve of luck.  

 

Occasionally subject to undeniable hedonistic impulses (see Infliction below), and a coinsure of the finest things in life, Rynard is will sometimes indulge in any form of pleasure to excess with no consideration for the consequences or their potential perils.

 

Rynard’s shoulder-length sandy blonde mane frames fair roguishly handsome features with a Filkarian-style well-trimmed beard and sky-blue eyes, while his lean form is amply favored with well-defined corded muscles.  More than a bit of a dandy, he is seldom seen without his signature ruby red tunic, embracing the moniker “the Red Rogue of Raschil”.  

 

Rynard wields a critical quality virtuous broadsword (attack 91% (+25% bonus)/parry 94% (+20% bonus), right, or attack 45% (+25% bonus)/parry 46% (+20% bonus), left, damage 15 points (1 D8+1 D6+1) (+1 D6 bonus) + POW vs POW (20) for + POW damage (+20 points) on contact with a target’s skin or a demon’s body, POW 20) and wears critical quality virtuous half-plate armor (12 points of armor (1 D8+1 D6-2), POW vs POW (22) for + POW points of armor (+22 points) vs demon weapons, attacks on wear’s POW must defeat armor’s POW (22), POW 22), heirlooms from the Melnibonean revolt, as well as a pair of fine black suede over-knee books, landsknecht style leather pants, and his signature ruby tunic under a black hooded cloak.  He also carries a critical quality dagger (attack 86% (+25% bonus)/parry 88% (+20% bonus), left, or attack 68% (+25% bonus)/parry 69% (+20% bonus), right, damage 1 D4+1 D6+2 (+1 D6 bonus), melee, or attack 68% (+25% bonus) (+43% ½ juggle), left, or attack 89% (+25% bonus) (+43% ½ juggle), right, damage 1 D4+1 D6+2 (+1 D4 bonus), range 50’, thrown) and a sling (attack 87% (+25% bonus), right, or attack 43% (+25% bonus), left, damage 1 D6+1 (+1 D4 bonus), range 300’), often with a variety of alchemical bullets (1 D6-1 class 5 incendiary (+1 D6+2 fire damage within 5’ radius, target’s POW x 5% or catch fire (see [3.9.4.1] Damage From Fire), wielder’s POW x 5% to start a fire), 1 D6-1 class 8 sleep gas (CON vs POT 20 or sleep for 3 D6 minutes (15-90 rounds) then CON vs POT 20 1/minute (5 rounds), 5’ radius), 1 D6-1 class 3 smoke (thick black smoke fills 5’ radius +1’ spread/rounds for 1 turn (5 minutes/25 rounds), treat as total darkness for 1 round then +1%/round to effected skills & checks, CON vs POT 20 or cough while within area of effect for 1st 10 rounds)) plus a supply (1 D3+9) of ordinary bullets, while his prized critical quality lute (+10% to play instrument - lute) is seldom far from his hand.  Whenever he can acquire them, Rynard carries potions which heal wounds (1 D6-1 class 5 (1 D6 hit points in 1 D6 hours (12-72 turns/300-1,800 rounds)) and 1 D6-1 class 6 (2 d6 hit points in 2 d6 hours (24-144 turns/600-3,600 rounds)), in addition to a flask (12.7 ounces (25.4 sips (0.5 ounce))) of the finest liquor he can get (1 D4+3 LB (POT = LB x 2)) (CON vs POT or become inebriated, 1 sip (0.5 ounces), POT increased by +1/sip (0.5 ounces) if within 5 minutes (1 turn/25 rounds)).  Although he hasn’t resided there in well over a year, he owns a grand townhouse (50,000LB) as well as still legally having a share in his family’s mercantile business (220,000LB) in Raschil, but surviving as a minstrel, generally only has a few hundred LB (2 D6 x 100LB) in coins and gems.
