The brothers' childhood was difficult: their mother died when she was giving birth to Max, and his father after grieving for his beloved wife tried to pull himself together and raise his sons. They were orphaned as teenagers, and having no next of kin, the state confiscated the family's property to pay off debts, and placed the children in an orphanage. The hedgehogs, not wanting to sink even lower, decided to run away until guardianship came, since life in the orphanage surely was not for them, and preferred the street to dirty walls.
Even before the death of their father, the young men had some dark past, engaging in petty robberies and drug indulgence in order to somehow escape from the cruel reality.
