Just a pic for fun. The black and white version appears in my 2004 sketchbook. Pencils by me, colors of robot by Seed and background/robot integration CG by me.Hope you enjoy!

There's just one question...did Eva Unit 01 have that kind of Prog. Knife? I thought that was Asukas?
But, then again, there is the underlying meaning...like a story:
Evangelion Units 01 and 02 have been launched to destroy a hidden angel (perhaps more than just the eighteen mentioned?), and as the EVAs are being transported, Shinji and Asuka go into an argument about their family issues.
"Sheist!" Asuka exclaims, "Can't you get it through your skull!? I don't want to talk about my mother!"
Shinji just sits there, keeping himself from lashing out at her, and only mumbles her name.
"So just DROP IT, ALRIGHT!?"
Hyuga's voice is transmitted through the entry plugs. "We've reached the crash site where the angel was last detected, deploying EVAs."
Shinji and Asuka slide off the aircraft, landing on the hard earth with a huge crash. Both EVAs stand above the dust kicked up from the impact, but the dust soon clouds their vision. Asuka and Shinji switch their views to try to see through the dust, but it only gets worse as they stand there. Asuka finally gets fed up with it.
"MISATO, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!? With all this dust, there's no way we can see the angel!!" Asuka exclaims, punching the wall of the entry plug in frustration.

Misato runs her fingers throuh her hair, figuring out a solution to the problem. "Maya, give me an update on the weather."
Maya puts in a few keystrokes and pulls up the results on her monitor. "Ma'am, it says that there's a 96% chance of a severe sandstorm."
Shigeru turns to face the Major. "The Magi reccomend pulling the EVAs out of the crash site and wait until the storm clears."
Misato folds her arms and puts on the god-dammit-face, and starts to think of a plan, when all of a sudden Maya interrupts her thoughts. "Major, something's happening!" The Major quickly walks to Maya's station and looks at the monitor. "Is that a T-storm?"
Maya turns to Misato. "It looks like it, but..." Misato looks at Maya. She had a look that said omg-we're-screwed, and Misato began to grow a concern for the Children. "But what, Maya?"
"...But these readings...in that storm...there's a strong AT field reading..."
Misato's eyes grow wide. She straightens up and turns to Shigeru. "Put these readings on-screen."
The wide-screen monitor that lies at the end of the building shows the readings of what Maya and Misato just saw. Everyone stares at the readings, and all hearts skip a beat. Except, of course, for Fuyutski's and Gendo's.
Fuyutski looks, with hands behind his back, squinting his eyes. "So, the Angel is hiding in the clouds?"
"No, good doctor," Gendo replies.
"Then what IS it?"
Gendo only grins. "SEELE wants revenge."

Asuka and Shinji wait patiently for orders from NERV, but Asuka is less patient than the two out there. She starts to pull at her hair in frustration. Finally, she gives into the pressure. "VER DAMNT!! I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!! WHATEVER'S OUT THERE IS GOING TO PAY FOR MAKING ME WAIT THIS LONG FOR IT!!"
Shinji panics and calls out to Asuka, "Wait!! We don't have any orders from Misato yet! Just wait--"
Asuka turns off the comm. between them, and mumbles to herself, "I'm done waiting."
Evangelion Unit 02 charges out of the dust, whipping out it's prog. knife. Evangelion Unit 02 keeps charging until it reaches the edge of the dust, and immediately halts it's advance. "Mein Gott..."
Between EVA 02 and the storm ahead (which confuses Asuka) was a deep crevice, seeming to go miles down to no end. She looks back at the storm ahead. "So, where's the Angel?"
"Asuka!"
Asuka looks at her comm. "Misato, Hyuga dropped us right at a CREVICE!"
Misato disregards Asuka's situation as quickly as it was given, "Asuka, where are you now?"
"Right at the edge of the crevice and almost out of the dust."
Misato's face, for only a second, turned into a state of shock. Then immediately turns into rage. "ASUKA, CAN'T YOU STAY WHERE YOU ARE FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES!?!? THAT WAS YOUR ONLY PROTECTION AGAINST THE INCOMING ANGEL!!!!
As Misato says this, Asuka starts to get pissed. "What ANGEL, Misato!? I don't see one anywhere!!"
Just as she says this, she starts to realize what's going on. "YOU MEAN THE ANGEL IS THAT STORM CLOUD UP THERE!?!?"
"We're not really sure," Misato mumbles, "But get back in th# du@^ b@%o@e &$u g*t--"
The connection is lost. "Misato? MISATO!?"
At that instance, the clouds ahead turn from a dark grey and black, to a hellish red. "MEIN GOTT--"
Before she has time to react, a lightning bolt strikes the EVA, right where her leg was. The leg, and EVA, slide to the ground. She screams in agony, pain, and hatred as she switches the comm. to Evangelon Unit 01 back on.

Shinji sits in his plug suit, waiting for orders and, as unlikely as it would seem, for Asuka to return. "She's been gone for a long time..."
He's shocked out of his seat as he hears static over the comm. He sees Asuka on the display.
"Sh...Sh&nji....he...h@lp..." The conncection is immediately lost.

The purple Evangelion is immediately brought back to life with the thoughts of the pilot, and the EVA charges through the dust. As he gets closer, he hears thunder coming from in front of him. He stops immediately as he gets to the crevice and sees EVA 02...or what remains of it.
Her left arm and both her legs were cut clean off, only the torso, right arm (holding the prog. knife), and head remained. She lie so close to the edge of the crevice she could easily fall through with a simple shake of the earth. Shinji charges to the fallen EVA, but a bolt of lightning stops his advance. Another bolt of lightning strikes Evangelion Unit 02's eye, and the EVA twitches and starts to fall down the crevice.
Asuka falls twenty feet and stabs the prog. knife into the earth next to her, hanging onto it's handle.
Shinji runs to where she fell, and starts to reach for her. He eventually grabs her wrist and starts to pull her up. Another bolt of lightning strikes, and removes EVA 02's hand. She falls through the crevice, her head and torso banging against the walls.
Evangelion Unit 01 lifts itself up, on his knees, looking at the hand and prog. knife in it's hand. He throws the hand down and holds the blade away from his body, in the stabbing position. Shinji's eyes go cold, and he, and the EVA, go berserker as another bolt of lightning strikes.

Amazing colour job! It really looks like Eva Unit 01, it's body is entirely in proportion. Also, I like the single lightning bolt in the background.

Hope to tell you from my belief they Eva's are also sort of living hence the sincrate or however you spell it. WOnderful coloring job and picture however. My friends and I were playing Evangelion tonight!

Absolutely badass. Only detail is (as I imagine others have noted) that he's holding Asuka's Unit 02 progressive knife.
