Description
Part I:Part 2:
Signuri Alessandro Felice di Valerio, in full armour and helmet. Aside from the strange looking feathered cape, the reason he is called "The Vulture" or "L'avoltore" is because of the method in which he acquires weapons and armour: By looting them from the corpses of his enemies.
Upon becoming the captain of the Lazarus Guard, he used his wealth and earnings to uplift his community into a thriving trade centre. The Lazarus Guard's connections also gave access to unconventional weapons sold on the black market. With this, General Vincislau of the Tartaros Constabulary funded the local militia's navy with enough money to purchase a Charybdis Class Heavy Assault Cruiser from Zervan which was named "Vrazzu di Ferru," captained by a veteran of many naval wars and the notorious boss of the White Harriers Syndicate: Farida Al-Hashimiyya. This is a highly advanced warship way ahead of its time, clad in iron armour and able to perform two things conventional ships cannot: high calibre artillery barrages, a long-range battery shelling that can severely damage targets from afar and torpedo attacks, designed to sink ships in short range with deadly force. Such ships have been feared by several nations that still use the standard galleons and men-o'-war. Due to Zervan's isolationalist policies, things like these have been made illegal from trade by the International Merchants' Federation. This just goes to show how far the influence and connections of the Lazarus guard have become over time. Word even has it that General Vincislau is getting himself a personal battleship: A Barracuda class dreadnought. These ships first saw action during the reconquest of Porto di Valenzja, which ended in the defending outlaws surrendering from the sight of the steel coated beasts of war making an example out of the five men-o'-war that attempted to stop them from retaking the harbour.
Alessandro also participated in numerous battles as a mercenary, leading his fearsome company to victory after victory, even going so far as killing the mad Wanax of Sciron during the Battle of Mount Waldek while fighting alongside the Longbow wielding Grand Prince Alaric of the Kingdom of Fröja. This has also earned him the tainted moniker "Malphas," named after a vengeful gladiator of ancient Heridia who felled an emperor. This dishonourable act was against the order of his employer who wanted the Wanax captured. But this did not deter Alessandro from carrying out his revenge, and instead personally paid the Wanax's planned ransom, much to the disappointment of the Grand Prince.
Hiring his notorious company comes with a second price, he gets a share of the battlefield loot to sell on the black market. His wife, Lauretta, is the merchant who handles the trade of these goods, and negotiating with her is a tall order in it of itself. She may have lost the ability to walk, but her sharp tongue and wits are as deadly as Alessandro's strength. Those who want to hire the Lazarus guard at a low price are met with both her honeyed words, or her husband's axe. They truly complement one another.
His fashion, as a whole, is quite the unusual mish-mash of different cultural aesthetics but overall, has a Zaffiri flare to it. His helmet has an Alastro-Volgardic design that gives it an inhuman impression. The robe that he wears has a far western feel to it, akin to those worn by the nomads of the great sandy wastes of Mashhad, while his armour is northern in origin. The cape, however, is a strange addition, clearly worn by a nobleman. All of these were looted from fallen foes, true to the motto of his mercenary company: "'Ntra greci e greci nun si vinni abbraciu," or honour among thieves.
The Lazarus Guard is a faction operating under the Exalted Order of the Iron Eye, a rogue militaristic order founded by Grandmaster William, a former crusader also known infamously as "The Half-Heathen Viscount". Their headquarters is located in the City of Qadirah, within a great stronghold. Churches and monastic orders consider them heretical, and the press even calls them an organized crime outfit led by a shady mob boss just to sensationalize the news amongst the populace. The truth is, they are a group founded out of necessity, due to Zaffiru's political climate shifting from one foreign power to another far too often. The order, acting in the shadows of whoever possessed the land, tip the balance of power whenever a foreign government tries to exploit the locals.
